Just to be clear that was not the real " The What", I don't want anyone to think I was trying to do something sneaky to post as him. Just a joke.

Wow,
Too much coffee is really screwing up my typing, I REALLY should have re-read that post for grammatical errors.
Sorry guys!

A new thread for once. Now we just need The What to comment on it, I bet it would go something like this:
Fact:
You Asshats don't realize that snow is owned by Big Ass Industro Corporation whose stock has fallen faster than I think the sky is. Wake up and realize that all you are doomed and you will be losing your house due to you're greedy nature to exploit it. You won't even realize it until it's too late and it's June and you have no more snow. 2009 is going to be a disastrous for snow.

I hate the word "fringe" being used on my neighborhood also, I live right on the Fort Greene / Clinton Hill border. I can tell you about Fringe how about Crown Heights three years ago? I lived on the east side of Nostrand, there is not alot to offer in the way of amenities there. The grocery stores were pretty gross and closed at 8:00 or before, everything else had plexiglass in front of the counter. One time I couldn't find pasta sauce after 8:00 anywhere. Clinton Hill is nothing like that especially where I am at, where I utilize more of what are called the "Fort Greene" amenities than the ones called "Clinton Hill". Crime spike = Scary, but a woman was slashed behind Gracie Mansion yesterday, but still I am twice as aware now than I was even two years ago when I moved to the neighborhood.

It is so sad what we turned our society into in this country. For the first time it seems that Americans are doing things right, for the first time in forever as a whole American households went down in personal debt, we are importing less disposable plastic items from overseas, we are actually keeping cars more more than two years. All these things should strengthen a country instead of sending it into a downward spiral.
What: I agree it would be a shame to see those areas of Fulton and Vanderbilt stay vacant because of out of control rents.

Does anyone know what is going into the spot between Bonita and the corner Bodega on DeKalb? I heard it is possibly a new bar that will also serve burgers and the like..

The store has been losing money from day one. The closing has nothing to do with the economy.

Williamsburgguy,

We are also not addressing the fact the the 88th said this has happened THREE TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK!. Why haven't we seen more patrols at night like they did when we had the problems at the beginning of summer? I know that the extra patrols didn't' last that long, but it worked. Maybe they should just do it periodically whether there is a spike in crime. Really three times in a week!!!!

Part of the reason the crime in Fort Greene can happen like this is the side streets are very dark, and and this area is very residential, 95% of Fort Greene is fast asleep by 1:30 am on a week night. This is horrible and I am glad the person involved was not hurt.

Yes, this is the good side of the park and that is why the muggings happen here. It's the jackass and dangerous kids from the projects that cross the park to prey on people. These people have nothing to do with economic woes, they are criminals. Wall Street is cutting jobs, not Burger King.

There is no bright side to this, I am just relieved that there was only one Shooting today and not two as originally thought.

Dave,
Wait for it...........
I also was commenting (not attacking) on BooklynGreene's post where she mentions that:
"The economic problems have been impacting many communities of color for much longer and causing hardships, stresses and trauma."

This is truly terrible, but I do not buy into the economy causing persons of color to commit crimes like this. Thousands of Wall Streeters and bank personnel have lost their jobs and are struggling with the possibility of losing their homes, but they haven't started shooting and robbing people. It is a cheap excuse to think that shooting five people has been influenced by the weak dollar.
