I wonder what the original owners paid for this place and will they reap a tremendous profit in this market? One never knows, you really have to love the views. I don't know anyone who would really love living in DUMBO with all the rats running the streets in the night.

Brooklyn Real Estate Brokers. Get real, stop taking listings when you know you will not be able to sell them at that price or even closer to the asking price. A fool would pay this price to live next to an apartment building, with trash in front. Perhaps they think it's like Central Park West. Are you kidding yourself? Fools are not buying just to be buying. Brooklyn brokers get real with your prices and if the seller does not want to get real, don't waste people's time, you will look like a big fool. Otherwise, you will have listings that will last for over 6 months or a year. A smart person knows that a property that is a decent price will sell, not a ridiculous price. Today's market is different and will continue to change.

One thing is for sure. There a sucker born everyday. This is a very nice apartment, if you like living in an apartment building with other owners. It's on the top floor so it's nice. The space is great and the deck is fabulous plus the location is good. I don't know if they will get a million or more, perhaps. Does the apartment have views of Manhattan or the VB? I know a house that has 2000 square feet and is price just alittle more then what there asking for this apartment.

what fool would pay that price for a very small house and the block is okay. I would pay 1 million or more for blocks like 1st Place to 3rd Place, between Henry and Court and also President and Carroll between Smith and Hoyt. Otherwise, the other blocks are okay. Those blocks are truly beautiful. Check them out. It is my understanding only two blocks in Carroll Gardens are designated Landmark Status. People do your homework first!

the best way to find out if a building is really great is to ask if the developer or real estate agents live in the building. I really hope they clean up fulton street, because they have been trying to clean up the area for many many years. Good luck in the sale of the units.

I wonder if they will still get the price of 4 million for the Penthouse, once they straighten out this miss. I wonder what will happen next? It sounds like the developers need money bad and in this market. they better have cold cash, otherwise AIG will probably take over. All those developers who cannot get additional cash and have already put out cash are screw, maybe renting may work. Anyway that's my feelngs.

Only two unit in contract. That tells you something already. I bet this building will go rental, unless the prices are reduce alot and I mean alot. I don't think they are alot of people willing to pay high prices to live in that neighborhood when you can get something in a beautiful neighborhood.

Pizza is very very good. Zagat's gave it a very high rating, but the lines at Grimaldi's are longer waits. If you love thin crust pizza, this is the place. Alot of
hype, but very good. The brick ovens, certainly do the job right. Hope they stay on
top of their game, since there is always newcomers. DiFara was voted best pizza for a while, but now there are #2 and so was Grimaldi's.
Real Estate has always been a long wait, unless you have to sell. Tough times not just across the river, but everywhere including Brooklyn too. I just can't understand how people can spent $2 million to live near the projects, low income or near a prison. Perhaps I must be to conservative.

This place has one of the BEST SCONES IN NEW YORK CITY. I have been to many many places in Manhattan (Alice's teacup, levain bakery, sarabeth's, even balthazer) and the outer boroughs and this place is right up there with these other places, especially the blueberry scones. Chicken salade and soups are delicious. The prices are high, but they are worth every penny. Perhaps they should thing about making the scones just alittle bigger, they are quite small compare to the scones that you get in Manhattan for the same price.

A friend told me how good this place was, (but said it was very small and the tables were so close) so we went there to check it out first and reserve a table for two, this was the table that we both liked, since I am a big fan of being at a restaurant where I feel comfortable and don't feel cramped, this was about 2004. I called to let them know we would be late and they said okay. We arrive about 15 minutes late and the table that we reserved had been taken. I was very disappointed in there attitude, so I suggested to the staff and it may have been one of the owner's that we sit up front where the swing is located, near the door, they told us that was for four, so we really got angry and left. I just did not like the arrogrant attitude and the lack of professionalsim. THEY WERE WRONG. Of course, we were both dress so well and look so fabulous, we were celebrating something special between us. I think they may have been intimitidated. I had heared about Bouley in Tribeca and we called and they were ale to get us a table at the last minute. The food was so delicious, service impeccable and professional and of course the place very elegant. We have been going to Bouley for over 5 years and the food is always amazing. I really would have like to have tried the Grocery, but they lost a very potential customer.

This is one of the best French restaurant's in Brooklyn, in terms of food. Too bad that happen with the roach. I guess I would be freak out too. The food is always consistent, very good and friendly waitresses, as well as the owner. Of course, everyone has a different experience on the food, but I really like the scallops, steak and the duck. They are not big on decor, if the decor was much better they would have a fantastic business. Prices are reasonable and food is good. My mother like the food too.

Great neighborhood restaurant, reasonable prices, decent atmosphere and very very good food. This is one of the best italian restaurants in Brooklyn. Good place to go with a group of 3 or more, since the tables are so close and it gets very loud. I try and get there before 6:00 or after 9:30:or if there is a long wait for 45 minutes or more go over to the River Cafe for drinks and come back for the enjoyable dinner. Owner and waiters are always pleasant. The food is always consistent and fresh.

I have eaten here many times over the years. The food is good, but not that good. Under the new owner, the food taste different every time I visit. I do like the crab cakes and the salades. I really use to love the french toast, but the past several times I had the french toast it taste different. I wish they would teach, when they get a new new chef, how to be consistent with the food.
good luck to these folks. It takes alot of gusto, let's see if they can pull it off. This has to be about the third or fouth broker in this spot. Lot's of luck.

Of course Brooklyn has beautiful trees, but CP has many trees. If you have ever been in any of the apartments facing CPW or Fifth Avenue, or even CPS you will understand what I mean. When I say the same view, I mean the city views. I lived on Columbia Heights and the views are always the same, the only view that changes is perhaps the street views (the city is build by humans, nature is nature.) The views change especially when it snows, leaves change, rain, etc.

I guess it all depends on who you are buying from, you could get a deal for $4 million (an apartment in need of TLC and has been in the same family for many many years) and of course much more. Did you ever hear of private sales, meaning not going through a top broker. When you go to a top broker you are also paying for rent, name, reputation and advertisment. They are so many deals that are done privately that you never really hear about.

If you are going to pay 4 million for an apartment, you better live on 5th avenue or cpw with views, that change from season to season of the park, instead of the same old views all the time. This is an apartment building and not a great one, I believe just about 4 or 5 years ago this use to be a rental building. The layout is fabulous, but the maintence is very high. You better have alot of money to pay each month. Someone could probably purchase this apartment for about $3 million all cash. I bet the developers will take it! I will check to see if I am right when it closes. Does it come with parking too?, probably not. The bedrooms seem very small in size.

I went in for some coffee. It seems clean and well organized. Hope they keep up the good work, I love a place that is clean, it says alot. They need to have more of a variety of pastries, scones, crossiants, muffins, cakes, etc. and delcious foods that will keep people coming. It's new and everyone looks new.

I think the people on Columbia Heights paid for the views and the house had some prior history. (the Othmer's, made money from Warren Buffet)The house was sold in 1998 or 1999 for about 2 Million after the Othmer's died. How great real estate !. I really wonder if the previous sellers put atleast 2 million to 3 million restoring the place, that would let them sell the house for over 10 million. Anyway, Remsen Street is a beautiful block and the house is much better then Columbia Heights, since it includes a carrage house with parking for two cars and I believe great details and beautiful floors. (also I remember when I was looking to purchase years ago, a real estate broker inform me that Columbia Heights had to many rodents since it was near the promonade) That house I believe also has some history as well, since I remember going there for a party many years ago.

ONE MORE THING, I HAVE SEEN STUDENT HOUSING BETTER THAN THIS BUILDING. CHECK OUT BROOKLYN LAW SCHOOL STUDENT HOUSING ON STATE STREET. THAT IS BETTER THAN ANY APARTMENT BUILDING THAT HAS BEEN BUILT BY A DEVELOPER IN THE DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN AREA. THE TOREN IS A GOOD LOOKING BUILDING, DESPITE IT'S LOCATION.

UGLY LOCATION AND UGLY BUILDING. APARTMENTS STILL EXPENSIVE. I BET THEY WILL COME DOWN EVEN MORE. THEY MAY HAVE TO RENT THEM OUT, I CAN'T IMAGINE FAMILIES BUYING A PLACE IN BACK OF MACY'S. GOOD LUCK TO THE DEVELOPERS.

Your right, a lot of of the new construction is crap, unless you have a world class architect and a first rate construction company (Bovis, etc.), not these day workers who really have to be consistently supervised by the constuction manager who sits around watching and smoking. Buyers Beware. One more thing, how do units in a building get 50% sold if there is no financing available? I guess you need all cash buyers, who are willing to take a BIG CHANCE. Like 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park. I heard, they are having a hard time selling those units. Despite, Elizabeth Stribling who purchased a so call $6 million apartment. I am wondering if that was a publicity stint? Well, it's a shame the real estate market is at a pause, hopefully it will pick up, but my guess is, it won't be for a few years.
