Call 311 and they will send you all the paperwork to get your complaint logged. And yeah - nice job in getting the cab #!

If it's just your sideview mirror - talk to Joe at Fifteenth Street Auto - he has replaced mine on several hit-and-run occasions (yes, several, >>sigh<<). A standard black one will cost you about $85 w/labor (don't know how much if you want it painted or the one matching your car's make/model) but it isn't even worth going through insurance cause it's prob less than the deductable.
Joe is AWESOME, friendly and always does a good, honest job.

Glad to hear no one is hurt...

Anyone know if you can get practice permits for this field? (i.e. for organized adult sports)

Whoa - something is wrong! I actually had an issue w/gas last month w/our gas being shut off for no reason. Turns out the meters were swapped b/t apts (we're living in X and paying for Y and Y is paying for ours) when the building was built (4 years ago). I believe the original tenants moved out and shut their gas off, which really shut ours off. I'm currently asking for an investigation in the differences b/t apt X and Y, just in case we were paying more.

Regardless... I have a roommate and we use the stove pretty much every night and use the over maybe 2x/week. My National Guard Bill looks like this:

Aug Actual 0541
June Actual 0539
x thermal factor of 1.0269
= 2 therms used in 63 days

Min charge for first 2 therms or less is $28.61
Delivers rate ($.03/therm) $.06
System Benefits Charge ($.0169/therm) $.03
MTA Surcharge (WHAT?!) $.03
GAS DELIVERY SUBTOTAL CHARGES: $28.73

Gas Supply Charge ($.6023/therm) $1.20
4% sales tax $.05
SUPPLY SUBTOTAL: $1.25

4% sales tax on gas delivery $1.15
Bill Charge (inc tax and surchg) $1.65

TOTAL CHARGES: $32.78

The graph comparison also shows that we are using much less therms than other people. Range is 2 (low) to 194 (high)

Delicious on the Slope had potential and blew it. Was just another mediocre joint that easily catered to all tastes w/o standing out. If you're off the beaten path, ya gotta be big or go home. It's a great space, though...
I'm all for more Mexican - Alma is still my #1 though (perfect example of a restaurant that's flourished despite being waaaay off the beaten path).

What the Slope needs is a proper fondue restaurant. Cheese, chocolate and everything in between... Fondue can be the new Mexican.

I know finance/marketing/mgmt - anyone out there to fill the "can cook" void? MARKET NICHE!

Prices are f*n crazy!!!
I bet the 20% already rented are people moving to the city - the ones who were told "NYC rents are really high, so be prepared to pay a lot." Then they went to a broker with a $4000 budget for a 2BR and were pushed to B'klyn not knowing any better...

Those rents are INSANE!!! I live DOWN THE STREET and pay $2300 for a 2BR, 1.5BA duplex.
The eyesore on Baltic/4th (which is actually really nice on the inside) was $2700 for a 2BR and $1900 for a 1BR last June.

Does anyone know the square footage on these apts? I'm willing to bet that's not making up for high price...

Washington Commons is owned by the same guys as 4th Avenue Pub... If it's anything like that, will be a great addition to the neighborhood!

My friend's apt looks right into this building and there is absolutely NOTHING going on in there. Lots of frames and wires and stuff, but no walls and no progress.

@fsrg/winden: agree, the views are horrific, but what's even worse is that the upper floors, while avoiding Hamilton and the BQE, will have a direct shot of my friend sunbathing necked (he's looking forward to the perks that come along with his private roof deck...)

@ northsloperenter: I meant that the prices for my apt aren't bad on this side of 4th (I live in a duplex in that building and have 1.5 bathrooms, and an office/sitting area in addition to the living room - yes I really love my apt).

The rent at 110 4th is absurd! No doorman, no free parking or storage, no gold-plated fixtures; if I were thinking of paying $1700 more/mo for what - a gym?! - I can assure you I wouldn't be living there! I *would* give the place the benefit of the doubt that the apts are HUGE to justify the price, but with 49 units, I'm guessing that there would be a lot of down-grading to full-sized beds...

The building on the corner of St. Marks and 4th that is now about 5 years old had 3BRs for about $4000 when the place opened and I remember thinking that was a little steep...

The apts will be ready for move-in in about 2 month. There's a free gym on the first floor, storage for rent in the basement and a free finished roof space.

Studio: $1800-$2000/mo
1BR: $2200-$3200/mo
2BR: $3400-$4100/mo

I was sent the floor plans, but the file was too big, so never made it through the filters. Have requested it again, but no luck...

If you're interested in this area, yet agree that the price is a big inflated for the neighborhood/building, there are two 2-BR apts for rent in my building (3-year old building b/t 3rd and 4th on Warren). about 1300SF, balconies, roof deck, washer/dryer hook-up, stainless steel appliances, marble and hardwood floors. There's pay parking too. The management office is trying to go through tenants to fill the apts so no broker fees! (and instead are paying tenants for referrals - not much, but in this economy it's something!)
I've lived there since June and love my place, the mgmt is responsive, keeps the place clean and fixes things when they break.

If you are seriously interested, you can leave your -e- here and I'll contact you with details or would be more than happy to field Qs...

Might be on the "wrong side" of 4th Avenue, but I love this area and the price is right!

North Slope at the Gowanus/Boreum Hill border (i.e. along 4th ave) is considerably cheaper than similar apts a block away. I've found that properties located b/t 3rd and 4th - even on the brownstone/tree-lined streets, like St. Marks, go for about $500/mo less than an ave away. The hideous on the outside, beautiful on the inside building on the corner of Batic/4th was $1900/mo in May. And rents have dropped. The key is knowing what you want when you walk in the broker's office and know what's non-negotiable (i.e. must be within 5 blocks of the Atlantic/Pacific subway or must be a true 2BR). That way you don't waste your time and can knock off places on the phone...

Posted by: Bklynight at February 9, 2009 3:52 PM in response to $1800/m in Park Slope? Possible?

This opened over the weekend - yet to go as last week's gallon of milk (from the new Dean Deli - 4th and Dean) is still good. Happy there is something again on the corner - the 5 weeks w/o Perry's was torture.

Yes, there are a lot of bodegas, but economies of scale is in full effect in these parts (if the bodegas weren't profiting, they wouldn't last). True, the whole "natural" movement is a scam for higher prices, but I'm not willing to go out of my way for tp or eggs or milk... I know my laziness translates into paying more, but there's a price on my time!
Want low prices? Go to Costco.
