Yes that 'salsa' is just awful. The veggies are overcooked or overstewed and soggy, flavorless lumps. The meat is unseasoned and dry. I could save myself the trip and spoon Goya direct from a can into my mouth. Just tasteless and textureless.

bed stuy restaurants? hmm. oh. um. no. hmm. gee. uhh. no. wait wait. um. no. hmm. let's see. uhh. umm. err.

Red Hook is awesome, but it's going to be a long time before it's worth that much to live next to the worst thing about it (or anywhere in nyc really)

I hope he profiles Bed-Stuy next and all its "many Obama-skinned people" in their "weird clothes and baggy bed shirts". Or Park Slope and its "Leftist rich people who own homes I can't afford and have 'weird' babies" or maybe the UES and it's "Weird leftist Jews that own the radio station I work for"

As if anything good will ever spring up from the waste that is the fulton mall anyway. We'll never see a real restaurant there again, or an art gallery or market or anything appealing. This is better than rot. At least there will be curly fries.

LOL Art is so bourgeois!

Seriously though Manhattan does suck. I mean, unless you're in a fraternity

if bedstuy 'locals' were interested in making bedstuy appealing they wouldn't use it as a trash bin/toilet as often as they do.

All NY's projects should be imploded in the middle of the night, with no notice.

"Thingies" and baubles and trinkets is pretty much what the entire Fulton Mall economy runs on and thats the most successful in brooklyn

Man those Brownsville folks got it made! now they can get out of their project and move up to a desirable neighborhood. And the Fulton Mall is so close for when they get their $100 and released.

Tea Lounge can piss off. Horrible coffee, food, patrons and service. However it serves a purpose in it keeps the strollers, mommies and twits out of the good coffee shops.

where else but outside Hoyt-Schermmerhon, can you pick up your welfare check and spend it all in two blocks on sneakers, fast food, cell phones, belt buckles, baubles, and basketball jerseys? And then even make it to the court house one more block away in time for your baby daddy's child support case! God bless America. No universal health care but we're still able to give out tax dollars for people to buy incense and bootleg hip hop CDs. Good prioritizing, liberals. Make amends for your guilt first, fix the country second.

Place needs an update. It's obvious it hasn't changed to cater to it's original, old time carroll gardens crowd, but if it's gonna stay around another 25 or 15 or 5 years it badly needs to update its menu and decor. The food is ok in that, if my grandma came to visit I would take her here, but you can't run a restaurant on flavorless gramma food.

Awesome. That area has been blighted for a while I hope this comes through

thats all some great reminiscing yall! Aaaaaaaand now the fulton mall is a dump. a dilapidated, filthy, festering cesspool. at the current rate it will be uninhabitable by 2014 after all the buildings decay and collapse out of neglect. Surprisingly the patrons (who arent upscale as everyone points out) will be climbing over rubble ala Mad Max to get to the 47 remaining sneaker stores that remain scattered about the wreckage. And even though there are no more mcdonalds in sight you will still find these patrons disposing of their chicken mcnugget boxes carelessly in doorways and mailboxes.

Agreed. this place is shit. Seriously the worst service I've ever encountered. When i come to spend $120 on dinner and drinks i don't want your fuckin attitude. I dont care if youre the owners washed up, 'never amounted to anything' son.

I've tried it a few times and there's never been a 'good' night. Won't be back.

there's enough churches in this city

Yes! Gentrify! Gentrify! Soon we will take back that horrible Fulton mall and make it breathe again.

Clean places are for elderly homos. There's an awesome taco place / mexican bodega on Atlantic and Hoyt. Amazing chorizo. It's a little dirty though so don't wear your white satin evening gloves.

But yes lobo food is shit. Drinks decent, nice outdoor area on the court street one. Service always friendly. Food still shit.

Yeah but coming to a city then leaving in 5-10 years is nothing new and has been happening in this city ad every other one for generations. Even if you come to new york and make it big, in 10 years you're sick of the noise/crime/traffic/rents/negative-city-issue-of-the-year and want to raise a family or whatever and move out. And while your doing that new people are taking your place in the city. What is the point of this article? Does the writer suggest the population will magically return to the 'old timey' new york locals all the natives pine for?

Whatever. the economy is still strong. Everyone will be fine. Buy some stocks while they're on sale if you're smart. In 10 weeks you libs will be scratching your heads again wondering why the world didn't end for the 879,075th time like you predicted.
