Chimney Repair
Can anybody recommend a good chimney expert? I am thinking about installing a chimney balloon for the winter, but need help measuring my chimney.
Right now, I can see the sky when I look up the chimney from the fireplace. Yikes.
Thank you!

stones below the surface in backyard
We're finally getting into the garden after three years in our Leffers Manor brownstone. We've discovered great masses of round yellow rocks (beautiful) just below the surface of the soil. Makes planting tricky. We're wondering what these stones could be. Are they part of the natural make-up of the soil? Are they the remains of an old stone wall from days gone by? Thanks for any experience/knowledge you may have.

Hello,
A posting several weeks ago gave the phone number for a great carpenter named Tamer. I've lost the number and need it again! Can anyone help me out?
Thank you. (I am in need of a skilled carpenter who can refurbish old doors and woodwork in my brownstone, as well as build new cabinetry.)

Bend and Bloom! Ha, ha, I actually guffawed when I read this name. It sounds like a wholesome porn shop.

Every time I see this Bird Blog, I groan with boredom. Sorry. The topic is dull, the writing is dull, birds as pets are dull.

Hello 9:31.
Where did you go to get your doors completely rehabbed? I have the same kind of doors that are in the picture, but they need work.
Thanks.

I went to the salon once, but questioned the sanitary conditions, I have to say.
I am one of those who would love to see a restaurant row develop here. A good Italian restaurant would be wonderful. A good specialty store with cheeses and breads, etc would also be quite nice.
Enduro is packed every night and indicates there is great potential here.

You should look into Techlighting.
They have very nice mono-spots and wall and ceiling track which you can install, then a wide selection of lights to pick at your leisure.
The electrician can do the installation job, and you can pick or change your heads ( the lights) later.
I like very small, unobtrusive lighting and wasted a lot of money until I came upon techlighting. I think their website is www.techlighting.com.

By the way...I just wanted to mention that I had a most negative experience with T&A Carpenters (found them by searching old Forum posts, they had been recommended, but some years ago).
Basically, I was told that while they could make me new doors (taking two months) they had "no time" to repair my current emergency, in spite of the fact that it would take approx. an hour.
I stressed that I was willing to consider the larger job in the very near future but was anxious to make the door safe now (the original beveled glass is slipping down and the door is in need of urgent repair)AND that I wanted to begin a relationship as I had many more jobs....
....I was blown off.

I have a wonderful carpenter who just finished renovating my brownstone doors -- he has also done a lot of other projects in our home.
His name is Joseph Rene. If you give me a call at 917-902-4801 I will give you his information.
I was referred to Mr. Rene when I posted an inquiry in this forum two years ago, and I am forever indebted to the tipster!
