As a renter, I would never, ever pay $4000 for a one bedroom over here. I mean, people pay that for luxury places in the city, and sure, this place is very nice and pretty big, but any sensible renter who's putting up that kind of dough would want a better layout and a a lot more interesting stuff for there money.

11217 You are totally right and you are obviously not bashing BedStuy by no means. You were also right before - this house is overpriced.
Slappy, I'm actually moving to Bedford-Gothams next week. And I'm very excited :) Bringing my Tea Cup Yorkie and Espresso maker as well. Yippee!!

This place is a steal!
All it needs is a new paint job, some new tile and you've got the mansion we all want and deserve.
And an indoor pool!
Don't knock it till you try it folks....
(and of course a horse drawn carriage in the front to make the neighbors envious!)

Just putting in my less than two cents-
1-When did flea markets become a white person thing? Or an anti-religious thing? My mother would take us to flea markets every sunday, AFTER church! We're black, lower middle class (like many), and she would probably have been out of her mind IN LOVE if a flea was across the street from the church!
2-I will admit many items at the flea are overpriced for a lot of incomes in the neighborhood. That said, that's never stopped anyone from enjoying a flea market and you can find some quality stuff on the cheap. And it's better than watching cartoons all morning.
3- That Daily News article is ridiculous. It's not only written poorly but the head line"A new market for Brooklyn rage" pretty much say's all it needs to say about the disgusting tabloid the Daily News really is. I feel bad for anyone who actually bases any sort of opinion from that stupid article.
4- Am I the only one who thinks Brownstoner is a fox in that NYT article?

My friends live across the street from the Vanderbilt location and I must say it's both convient and cheap! It's an excellent switch from the regular Indian/Chinese/Thai stuff nearby and the portions are right on! We always split the Chicken Shawarma or get a Veggie pizza. It's also a great spot for vegetarians. Haven't tried the myrtle location (which I live near) but it always looks cool and friendly inside.
Service is a pain but I've had worse!
I'm guessing they'll get a little below asking but the place is really fantastic....love the staircase and it's perfect for a small family

wow! I had no idea about the new extension to Choice on Grand.....I read something about it on the ClintonHillBlog but didn't realize it was going to be so cool!

JBES! You really take PropJoe seriously! Tsk, tsk, tsk. He has no idea about BedStuy and probably not much else as proven by the 5:36 PM comment!

1 - I've been reading this thread and there seems to be no mention that this house is actually listed in Clinton Hill for some reason????? I wonder if brokers do that on purpose or are the truly kinda unaware....
2 - People will always buy, live, and love BedStuy no matter what misinformed midtown yokels think

sometimes the bull---- can be unbearable....John Catsimatidis is a blowhard billionaire who's trying to make money. In this day and age social services are all we should be concentrating on and the one thing this man (and the rest) are trying to avoid. You can't really, honestly, be OK with him? Self made man or not, he has a responsibility to the community (both the rich and poor parts of it) just like the rest of us.

Hey Rent!
Go to website for the Washington place, scroll down and go to the Documents:Setup (pdf) file. That gives you the down low on the property!

wow! a few of those leases go until November 2010! But there isn't any lease info on the Duplex...that seems like it would be vacant but where do the owner's live (the basement?) I've read that if you are just turning the place into a 1 family then maybe getting tenants out isn't that hard to do...but the place seems more like a business venture for a landlord then a home for potential income...and if you could get out the tenants and do a decent renovation for about 200K it could be worth it in the long run....

I'm not going to lie - the insanity of guest comments was always a riot, but i am enjoying the peace of the commenters who actually have something to input (besides, of course you know What)

Word up Wasder! The G train is not some sort of MTA leper train! In fact, I have waited for the L many nights much longer than my transfer for the G (and in the morning, at least you can get on a train and not wait for 2 trains just to get a space)! It's not the best train but there's no reason to move out of CH because of it!

Does anyone know about a Coop coming to the Clinton Hill area. I know there is a committee researching it but is it going to ever come together?

So glad too see this review! I have been wanting to go forever but didn't really know what was up! Thanks!
I was just thinking of how much my neighborhood really NEEDS one of these sort of Day Care Centers!! I see so many children but there seems like a lack of good, quality, places to take tots around BedStuy! I'm glad to see this kinda thing in DUMBO - maybe we can get one in the hood soon!!

Missed the flea today!!!! But it's always a little overpriced in the housewares section anyway. Just got my login. Too bad I forgot the damn password......

I live next to the Tiny Cup and I have to say that commuters still like a nice coffee and bagel in the morning (though i must admit that with Dunkin' Doughnuts on the corner, business must get pretty slow at times). I'm happy to see a new place in the hood though...
