Hello Living

Has anyone bought in this complex, seen it, have opinions?

I'm so sick of the stroller comments by this point. I have a toddler, we mostly use a carrier. But you should try walking from point A to point B behind a toddler. You would in fact be way more annoyed by how long it took you to get around them. I'm sure most of the annoyance about strollers is really an expression of feelings about the parents (desire, jealousy, reflecting on your own loneliness or disappointment, loss of your own childhood, wanting to be taken care of, not wanting to be taken care of, whatever.)We each are annoying in our own way. There are serious things going on in the world. Put down the annoyance and keep on walking.

The N- it doesn't have that pesky extra stop at DeKalb before Atlantic.

I will say that I am not a fan of the "this is typical of every new project and this is typical of NYC real estate" attitude. Lessons learned, but we were pressured A LOT with this kind of talk when we bought (1st time buyers)and I feel we were underrepresented by both our broker and lawyer. I've learned a lot by reading this site and realize our first mistake was using a lawyer suggested by the broker. It's worth it to find and pay for someone who will fight for your team. Many things are typical, for instance rounding up or down numbers; yet I didn't pay less for the condo or the broker's fee on the assumption that they would just round the money we've given them up. We don't have to be maniacs about what we expect, but we are right to expect the delivery of the product that was promised.

It took almost two years in our building. We had to organize to push the expediter, which felt incredibly ridiculous and frustrating. Don't count on anything. Some people in my building didn't pay their taxes and were willing to take the risk. Consult a lawyer on this issue because that choice could have an effect on your mortgage.

Every time I'm walking on 4th I looking for Ghenet and I never see it. Can you give me a visual so that I can lock it in mind and remember I want to go there (which is what I'm trying to do when I find myself walking on 4th). Is it next to the Sheep Station? Is it actually on Degraw? Thanks.

Chicago is doing something like that with our money from congestion pricing.

I should add that I'm not a realtor. We've been happily ensconced in a condo in Boerum Hill and I'm starting to realize that if we want to stay in the neighborhood and move to something larger, it might have to be a condo-despite my love for brownstones.

If you email the Daycare Council of NY, they can provide you with a list of in-home providers in your zip code.

Anybody who already lives in this area knows that the nearby intersections are already death traps. And we know that Ratner is responsible for the ugliest building in Brooklyn. The fact is that we're "not Portland" vs. thoughtless development is a mutually exclusive concept, but good development and the creative potential of Brooklyn is a workable concept. This city contains the multitudes. We can do better.

If you haven't joined, you have to request membership but then you can search the archives and there are lots of people posting about someone they know who is looking for babysitting hours.

Nicky's on Atlantic is good. And the one on Bergen off of Smith is really good.
