Anyone filed before closing using seller to sign off on filings?

We are buying a house that needs a complete gut plus and we'd like to shave off as much time as possible. I've seen mention of doing this as a way to save time and am wondering if anyone can tell me more or point me in the direction of info? The words I heard were "the buyer makes an application on behalf of the seller as agent for the building permits and seller signs off on filings" - and that we would need to make that part of our contract. Looking for any help/advice. Thanks!!

Free - Pink 4x4 tile from 50's also have white 4x4 and black accent and surround tiles

Anyone intereted before they go to Build It Green? Just leave a way for me to contact you...

Free Brownstone original windows including bay - or advice on who may want?

I can't stand to see these go to waste and am about to get a uhaul to take them over to Build It Green but wanted to post here first. We have a four story house of original windows and weights, some more interesting sizes than the standard as the house has a bay window and mansard roof. Thanks!

Can you take old oil tank to scrap metal yard?

What are you supposed to do with an empty old oil tank? Super clean inside - could probably be used but we switched to gas. Can we sell it to the scrap metal yard?

Love it - We live a block away and have been watching this go up. Can't wait to see the final project and what stores are in the bottom. I'd love a couple more good restaurants to start creating a mini restaurant row - and yes, it is a block from Toukeleur sp? (the great french restaurant on Bedford) and directly across from the Y which I can vouch for being great even after 6am :)
Looking forward to more updates...

definitely spray with the bleach and get it off. It may not have a root system to speak of but it will eat away at your mortar and brick. It is wrong to think it is "harmless." Good luck!

If you can post with a picture and quantity I'm sure you will get some buyers here. I'm always on the lookout for ones that match the ones I have. Ignore the trash person - jeez! And in case you don't know, Eddie has a place on Grand & Greene and sells old doors spindles etc. he is also at the brooklyn flea on sundays. Good luck!

The other thing to consider is hot water doesn't make as much noise and it doesn't have the condensation/drips/etc. that steam inevitably does...often ruining the wood around the base. My vote is for the hot water, but it is a tough call since yours is theoretically working... How does the wood look around the base of the radiators?

Thanks- I didn't think of eddie's. To the other poster... I love BIG which is why I am bringing them there if no one wants them on here for FREE - just trying to do a favor to the brownstoner community before I take them there and they have to buy them. jeez.

For future people looking to find someone to use old windows - south slope woodworks came and picked them up and they will use the old glass to make new windows - love that! Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Build it green got everything else I had :)

I second pwhites experience. Why they'd send water bills for my current house 3 months after I close to my former apartment is beyond comprehension.

I simply called and told the phone rep. that I'd actually need the bills for my current house sent to...uh.....my current house?

I'd fwd all mail from your old address to be extra safe. I'm sure you're smart enough to change the mailing address for your current bills but you can't protect against people sending you pertinent mailings to an old address without your knowledge.

We went two years after closing without seeing a bill. DEP never knew the house changed hands and I never knew I should be getting a bill! The bills must have been forwarded to the past owners new address. Eventually I realized something was missing and contacted them. Then I got my $500 bill.

Just curious - why are you removing them? Aren't they original to the building?

All teh above is sound. In addition, if your mortgage has a tax escrow, water and sewer may be folded in, in which case, it is built into your monthly payments and bills are to go to your bank, although you woul dbe receiving copies. Again, quarterly from DOF. If you see nothing for a few months, go on the DOF website and look up your property.

Just remember to get a water meter that is read from the outside of your home. DEP just drives by and points and records. No need to have the meter read inside your home.

Hi. We would also be interested in purchasing one of the mantles for our home. Please email me at tzaluv@yahoo.com. Thanks!

OP here.

Thank you for everyone's input. Extremely helpful and I will each out to the DEP to find out my account information.

Thanks again,
Faye
