And exactly how long is it going to take for the city to complete the update? And what effect this going to have on traffic in the area? No thanks!!! I agree, there are better ways to spend out taxes.

I love this place. Great atmosphere, wonderful views, and the food is great.

Never been to this place but Brawta on Atlantic Ave near Bond is very good. Now they are pricey but the food is good.

I am so sick of resturants like TGIF, Applebees, Chile's etc. Hopefully someone can come up with something better then all theses places and Amy Ruth's for the location.

I heard good things about Amy Ruth's food over the years but ubfortunately the food is not that good. A real disappointment to be honest.

Yes, most houses in the area are 100 years old.

And Jingle I happen to agree!

The photo is a poor representation of CH.

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at August 15, 2008 11:52 AM in response to What’s it Like in Crown Heights?

I'm sorry but I would not purchase this house at this location for 1.8mil. There are much better blocks in Clinton Hill that warrant a price like 1.8 mil...not this one. For that type of money I should not have to go in spend a dime on anything! Sam is right.

Folks who have that type of money to spend giving the climate of the economy are spending it on this block! They're spending it deeper in CH, Park Slope, and Prospect Heights etc.

Good point daveinbedstuy...the others kitchens and baths must be in horrible condition.

It is a lovely house but there is no way is selling for 1.8 mill...not on that block. If I'm not mistaken this house is on the opposite side of the White Castles on Atlantic Ave, there a hoe-tel at the corner of Classon and Fulton and not to mention the huge very sketchy apartment building at the same corner. 1.8 mil is not going to happen ... no matter how well kept and lovely the house is.

That's real shitty! But I'm not surprised...anything goes when trying to sell a house these days. And mentioning GREEN in the ad is lame at best.

A really good place is located on Monroe St. between Classon and Franklin Aves. It's called kids world and it is run by a women named Lanice. She runs it out of her home and she's licensed. I believe the address is 42 Monroe...it's been years since my son went there but I still see her and the children she cares for from time to time.

Can't remember the telephone number at the moment but if I can I'll get it and post another message.

Mr. Joist you are so right.

When my significant other purchased his home we visited the block several times...during the week, on weekends, in the morning, at night, during a hot summer day, on a rainy day, and we even drove by during when the kids in the area were getting out of school.

It's important to try and gather as much information about the block and location as you can on your own. Realtors & sellers will tell you whatever they need to in order to sell the place.

Red Hook & Sunset Park are very good locations but what about Williamsburg?

AMEN

Moreteasir is right and the church just needs to relax. The only reason why they have an issue is because they aren't getting anything out of deal!

Churches who have services 3 or 4 days out of the week and contribute nothing to the area are more of an burden to residents then the flea market. Parking on a block with a church or two on it is impossible.

OMG! That renovation has to be a crime. I live right of street and I'm saddened by what they did to this building.

Brokers underpricing homes is extremely rare...But if they do trust me it's for a reason. Some just want to spark a bidding war.

You know something Mr. Moreteasir, I'd like that.

By the way I like cherries!

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at July 10, 2008 4:00 PM in response to New Northern Crown Heights Hotel in the Works

Actually bxgirl...my place would be a much better option. Your guest can stay at my brownstone in one of my 5 bedrooms and not have to hear the awful noise of a train speed by every 10 minutes or so.

The going rate, however, is much higher then 55 bucks for 4 hours! (smile)

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at July 10, 2008 3:38 PM in response to New Northern Crown Heights Hotel in the Works

No, I'm no psychic just a realist!

And why won't they charge by the hour? The Atlantic Inn, which is not far from this location, does! So no, I am not privy to developer information but I am privy to the track records of so called hotels in the area.

There has got to be a better option then some low budget hotel. bxgrl won't you agree?!?

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at July 10, 2008 3:26 PM in response to New Northern Crown Heights Hotel in the Works

2:11 How about a decent supermarket that sells fresh affordable fruits and vegetables. How about anything that doesn't lower the property value in the area. Come on people!

And bxgrl...lol...you would really let guest stay at a pay by hour hotel on Atlantic Ave. Glad I'm not one of your guest! lol

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at July 10, 2008 2:36 PM in response to New Northern Crown Heights Hotel in the Works

I'm glad there's interest in the area too but lets be real that hotel is not the type of interest you want. Is it?

If it is a hotel that charges by the hour and I'm sure it is, think of quality of people that are going to hang around said hotel.

They just closed one of those hotels in Clinton Hill and trust me the area is better for it!

I'm really shocked that folks are choosing not to take part in the site simply because they now need an actual user name. How lame! There will still be interesting banter and great debates!

12:11 ?

What neighborhood is that corner in, if not Clinton Hill?

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at May 22, 2008 12:18 PM in response to Cop Fired on in Aftermath of Rally at Grand and Putnam

11:03 I agree with you for the most part. Calling Clinton Hill the ghetto is a stretch but lately there has been several very violent incidents all over CH.

As a CH tax payer I am truly concerned about what going on in the neighborhood as a whole. As for that particular corner, they need to empty that building and put that entire block on lock down if need be.

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at May 22, 2008 11:09 AM in response to Cop Fired on in Aftermath of Rally at Grand and Putnam

Guest 8:56 Your comment is ridiculous!

We all love Brooklyn...but we don't love the senseless violence that has popped up all over Clinton Hill. And people like you, who turn a blind eye, are apart of the problem.

Unbelievable.

7:24 Well said.

But that corner is a problem and I support any actions or efforts to clean it up.

Wow, i didn't hear about that shooting. What happened?

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at May 20, 2008 6:01 PM in response to Closing Bell: Clinton Hill Crime Press Conference & Rally

The time of the press conference really does suck but I do applaud the efferts of the local leaders. Something has to be done about that corner.

Hopefully it will make the local news and shine some light on the 88th precinct and their tomfoolery.

Oh, and by the way ....it's not about race or the ghetto. This a safety and drug issue. Drugs are being used by all walks of life in Clinton Hill, both the old and the newcomers.

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at May 20, 2008 5:44 PM in response to Closing Bell: Clinton Hill Crime Press Conference & Rally

A few residents on the news last night mentioned that the streets would be pretty dirty this summer. If the Park Slopers band together and work at keep the streets and sidewalks clean it won't be a big issue.

I do think that the parking rules should be reduced to once a week...keeping the street clean and neighborhood residents happy.

Posted by: A ClintonHillLady at May 16, 2008 10:17 AM in response to How Will the Great Slope Parking Experiment Play Out?

Thanks ClintonHullChill for letting folks know that the newcomers to the neighborhood have not helped the drug problem on that corner one bit.
