Berkeley Carroll Buys Sterling Place Church

The Berkeley Carroll School recently purchased the Christian Science church at 156 Sterling Place, a couple blocks away from its upper school on Lincoln Place. According to a rep for Berkeley Carroll, the school doesn’t have immediate plans for the property but expects to move some of its offices into the building and eventually use it for assemblies and performances. The church, which the school paid $3,800,000 for, is going to continue to use the sanctuary for its services for the foreseeable future. We don’t know much about the church’s history aside from that it was built in the early ’30s. Anyone know more? GMAP
