474 macdonough street bed stuy 62014

We loved 474 MacDonough when it was a Rental of the Day, and now it’s for sale. The Romanesque Revival house has beautiful woodwork that looks like it’s never been painted, adorable old-fashioned wallpaper and beautiful stained glass windows. It’s currently configured as a duplex over a one-bedroom garden floor rental.

A similar house at 541 Decatur just closed for $1,175,000, so assuming this one doesn’t need work and the other floors are just as nice as the one pictured, we won’t be surprised to see this go for the ask of $1,195,000. What do you think of it?

  1. It looks like a lovely Bed-Stuy home. (Though only one bathroom in the duplex if I’m reading it right.) Who do we think is moving in now that the prices are continuing to rise? Young wealthy couples priced out of buying in Clinton Hill? People looking to live somewhere and then sell in 5-10 years? Families who are sorry they can’t afford Manhattan? Or just folks who continue to fall in love with the neighborhood? Also, very minor, but agents have to start updating their listings from saying just steps away from Celestino and Bread Love, both now closed.

  2. im little surprised to see this one is still on the market. they had a few open houses and i saw a lot of people came to see the house and they sent out the email saying that they are overwhelmed by the amount of offers and set the due date for offers.
well i didn’t like as much as i like on the listing photos and the old oil furnace seems to cost a lot to change to gas and smaller garden/no deck.
would that be the reason why it didn’t sell at this point?
