Someday, this will be a 14-story, 247-unit hotel, designed by Gene Kaufman (the Brooklyn Eagle reported last year that it would be a Holiday Inn and included this rendering). The last permit, issued in September, was to install boilers, so things are moving along. In the meantime, the Nu is open, the Sheraton topped off, and the hotel industry is reporting troubles. Hopefully the Mehta family, which paid $11 million for the 80-by-197-foot lot at 300 Schermerhorn Street last October, will be able to make its money back.
