Brooklyn Streets Putnam Triangle Plaza

Clinton Hill’s long-in-the-works Putnam Triangle Plaza is inching just a little bit closer to construction this week.

The community space occupies a blocked-off section of road in the triangle formed between Fulton Street, Putnam Avenue and Grand Avenue. There are tables and chairs with shade umbrellas and plantings in containers. When Brownstoner dropped by recently, locals were reading and relaxing in the plaza.

The plan is to make the temporary plaza permanent by extending the concrete from sidewalk to sidewalk and eliminating the road, according to renderings.

This week, workers will be doing preliminary drilling and taking soil samples on the site in preparation for construction, according to the Fulton Avenue Business Alliance. Parts of the plaza will be closed until the end of the week, and the work will likely be quite loud, according to an email.
