Artist Lists His Fort Greene Home for $10M

Now on the market for $10 million: Artist David Salle’s Fort Greene home and studio, which includes a four-story town house (the gray one on the corner of Hanson Place and South Portland Avenue) and the three-story brick and terra-cotta building behind it on South Portland that was once a Masonic lodge. Says the New York Times: “Spanning about 10,560 square feet, it has four bedrooms, four and a half baths, an expansive artist’s loft, three terraces, a gym and a private garage.” There’s a separate entrance for the artist’s loft, so the space could easily be split into a multifamily. But the brokers think this kind of listing will intrigue buyers who want to keep it a single-family residence. The living space boasts a double-height ceiling with exposed beams and skylights, the office is outfitted with cork floors and green felt walls, and the master bedroom takes up the entire third floor (and includes a terrace, Japanese soaking tub and Zen garden).
