The plumbing edition
Hi everyone,
I have some catch up to do. Renovations were moving swiftly until the first snag... the plumbing sign off. After some confusion as to what we need, we should be filing next week and sign off (fingers crossed) should happen the week after. As a first time renovator one of the most frustrating things is that you don't know what you need and the fees are piling up...
Anyway, I attached some pictures of our new plumbing. Question for you, the plumbing of our new bathroom is right above the dining room. Should we be concerned about noise (toilet flush etc..). Does insulation help against noise?

Good luck - permits and filing can really take the enthusiasm out of even the most die hard renovator.
We didn't insulate to hide any of those noises and I really don't notice any issue with the faint sounds that might travel thru the walls.
Im not a very formal person so take what I say with a grain of salt. I didn't even think about the possiblity of people hearing the toilet flush in other rooms. All of my guests know we make waste products (gasp!!)and I don't find it particularily embarassing or disguisting to hear the sound of a toilet flushing.

The cast iron pipes produce very little noise but that PVC one you'll hear the water gushing down...insulate it while its open if it is next to any living space

Mrs Limestone, that is good to know. As the water is not working yet, we had now idea. We thought the noise level would be very high.
Dave, thank you for your advice!
