Brooklyn played a major role in the American Revolution — the Old Stone House and parts of what is now Green-Wood Cemetery and Prospect Park were all battlefields during the American fight for independence against the British crown.

In Fort Greene Park, a fort during Revolutionary times, however, you’ll be able to get a sense of what it was like to live through those times.

Fort Greene Park is sponsoring an event called “Survival During the American Revolution”: The Urban Park Rangers will reveal the secrets of how the Continental Army stayed alive during the harsh winter weather on the same ground that millions of Brooklynites trod today.

The free event will take place Saturday, January 28, at 1 p.m. at the park’s visitor center. Check out more details here.
