TV Repair

I have a 36" Sony Wega TV and the electric cord has been damaged in a few areas, with the copper exposed.Unfortunately, Sony has discontinued the cord as a replacement part and I can't locate a generic one online.

Can anyone recommend a reliable, trustworthy repair service who might be able to repair the cord so an otherwise perfectly good TV doesn't become a fire hazard?!

Audio/Visual/Home Theater Installer Recommendation

We are doing a gut renovation and would like to use the opportunity to install an integrated stereo/TV system, including putting the wiring in the walls, ceiling speakers, and linking components, in several parts of the house. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reputable outfit that does these types of installations? Not looking to go too high-end, just decent, basic stuff that will be unobtrusive. Thanks.

Internet in Sunset Park

Hi, I'm moving to Sunset Park. I really hate Time-Warner and was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for alternatives in Sunset Park for internet access (and cable TV, for that matter, but I believe TW has a lock on that.)

thanks.

HELP MOUNTING A FLAT SCREEN TV

Hi there - we're moving into a coop in Park Slope and have been trying to find an inexpensive way to have someone help us DIY'ers mount a 37" flat screen to a wall so it stays put. PC Richards and Best Buy are charging 300 to 400 bucks (we didn't buy the tv from either of them) but I think we need a handyman or someone who has experience in mounting it with an arm so it's safe from crashing down. Any ideas for a cheaper way to get some help?

my flatscreen...

I'm a teacher on a serious budget; the frames we got for our family room, kitchen, and master bedroom flatscreens were from an online company, wholesaleflatscreenframes. The frames were beautiful, they fit, were easy to install (I did one myself) and they were inexpensive compared to the other frames we looked at which is why we were able to get three.

Also, our frames are hardwood and look as well, if not better, than the frames around our paintings. We love the look because they make our televisions look even thinner than they are - which they should mention on their website. We can highly recommend this company –

I wondered if anyone out there has had experience and can offer some advice on mounting a flat screen TV to a brick wall? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wiring Question

I’m looking for a company/person who can give me an estimate to central wire my Brownstone for phone/cable/internet/sound'etc. The kind of thing you see at: http://www.hometech.com/. Legacy Audio has been mentioned on the site before, but their web site doesn’t seem to reference any whole house central wiring. I called their custom installations department and they weren’t sure if they did whole house wiring (“I think so” was the response) and told me that I needed to call the owner. I’ll follow-up with Legacy, but I was hoping to get some other leads. Has anyone done this? Any idea of the costs?

Thanks as always….

Bob Villa -Waterfront Warehouse Rehab

Im looking for Bob Villa's HOME AGAIN Season 14 --
Waterfront Warehouse Rehab Project -- DVDs/VHS episodes.

Im sure FORUM members will remember that the project took place in DUMBO. 13 episodes aired March-April 2003.

More info on this SPECIFIC series of shows is here:

http://www.bobvila.com/BVTV/HomeAgain/Project-1401.html

The Home Again website used to sell VHS copies of this project-- but they seem to have discontinued sales of all Home Again video products.

Id be happy to transfer VHS copies to DVD and make them available to anyone who has a video episode set of the series.

Or perhaps someone can point me to a web address where the video set may still be purchased?

THANKS for any leads or info.
