Roof Hatch Skylight Contractor
Looking to install an Insula Dome Roof Hatch / Skylight for a flat roof in place of a pre existing hatch. We are looking for a contractor for a second quote.
Any recommendations?

Basement Skylight
I am planing on renovating the basement of my brownstone and I was thinking of adding a skylight in the front part of the property. So this would be directly under the stoop area. I wanted to use the hole that alrady exists and just putt glass. So is this possible and if so what kind of permits should I get. I need help!

skylights & roof traps
I need to replace a skylight (the type on the top floor of the stair in a townhouse) on my roof. I also need to replace our roof trapdoor with a nice, new locking one. The roof trap door will be in my son's new room (creating 3 bedrooms up there) so I want it to be clean and safe. ANy recomendations for good, non-leaking skylights and roof trap doors? (which open easily?

How do I access the stain glass window in my skylight?
Ok, we have a stained glass panel in our skylight, it's really dirty, and does not let much light in. I tried going on to the roof to access it only to find that the skylight enclosure sealed with tar. I tried to lift it. No go. Getting at it from inside is an option, however it's located in the center of the stairwell and I have no idea how to do that. It also has this weird wire mesh over it, safety? I would assume you have to access it from the roof. However I have no idea how to do this.

You can feel wind and some water through the Skylights
Hi Everyone,
We have had our roof reshingled about two or three months ago. Now we are finding that the room is very cold and you can feel the wind if its strong. Also, you can feel some must of water if you stand under the two skylights. What would have the people done incorrectly on the roof for this to happen.
Thanks
Adam

Roof Hatches
Has anyone replaced an old roof hatch with a new hatch/skylight combo? If so, how do you like it? How do you feel about it security-wise? Thanks for any input.

Light shaft and ventilation
While replacing the screen in the exhaust fan in the downstairs bathroom, I noticed that it is vented into a shaft that leads directly to a skylight. The second story vents into the same shaft and there is no ductwork for either. I guess this is bad. I went up to the roof and can't find any outlet for this ventilation scheme, so I assume all that steam leaving the bathrooms, is being deposited in the walls and celings around this shaft. Was this shaft designed to provide light to these interior rooms which have no windows? Has anyone used them for ventilating bathrooms and how did you direct the exhaust outside?

Tubular Skylights
has anyone used these to light up closets and the darker areas of your brownstone? I'm curious as to how it went/results. It seems like a much more energy efficient way to light up areas without putting a traditional skylight.

Skylights
On both the Prospect Hts and Bed-Stuy house tours, one of the striking characteristics of many of the renovations was the addition of skylights and the amount of light it added to the house. I would like to replace my wire mesh & glass skylights with something that lets the sun shine in. Any suggestions on which brands are better for flat roofs? Is leakage a real problem or urban myth? Do I have to replace my roof in order to have a proper (non-leaking) installation? How much does a little sunlight cost these days?
Thanks,
Keep
