Soffit, downspout, gutter repair
Can anyone recommend people to repair a soffit, replace the downspout, and install at least one new gutter?
What material do you recommend: vinyl or aluminum?
Also, what's the ballpark cost (it's a three-story, 16' brick house).

Roof Skylight
Is it normal for roofing companies not to provide warranty on repairs? We got pricing from a reputable roofing company to replace 2 skylights, including necessary amendments to the structure where the skylight is placed.
I'm happy with their reputation, and the pricing seems fair. I'm a bit concerned that there's no warranty.
Also, a side question on tax, do one pays tax on materials or full work bill? etc.

Need reliable roofer
Hello. I live in a 25 foot brownstone (8 units and professional office) and it has been years since we had a new roof. Can anyone recommend a roofer? I received a quote for $14,000 a year ago. Is this reasonable? I want to make sure that we deal with reputable roofers and that their work is guaranteed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Roofer Recommendation
The roofer I have used for years is Stardust Roofing in Gerritsen Beach Brooklyn. Eddie is great with good prices. I moved to SI and he just re did my roof and clapboard siding in my 1920 home. He's done flat roofs for friends in Bklyn as well. Licensed and insured.

New Roof
I have an old brick townhouse in the South Slope. I have had my flashing repaired but think I need a new roof. Can I get a recommendation from anyone out there who has had this done?

Residents of Brighton beach and surrounding are'a be careful of an unlisenced roofer named Tommy Ryan he is On SSI and works off the books and he is extremly I'll I am in the process of taking him to ccourt for assualt and battery WHATCH OUT this man is very sick

Solar Thermal - Steel Beams?
Does anyone know if solar hot water panels must be attached to steel beams to meet code?
If this is a requirement, it raises the cost of solar thermal by 40%, I seems to me.
Has anyone installed solar thermal? Do they use it to supplement radiator heat?

Roofing / Solar Panels
I may be re-doing the roof on my 20' 0" x 45' 0" brownstone this year. If I do, I'll be looking to incorporate provisions for future installation of solar panels. Is there anybody out there who's done this, or who already has panels and retrofitted existing roofing to provide the panel supports? Do the supports comprise posts coming up from the joists, through the roofing, with pitch pockets or flashings at each post or is it done via steel beams spanning between the party wall parapets? If the former, did you have to reinforce the existing roof joists? Any advice and insight would be much appreciated as would recommendations for solar installers that are based on actual experience.
