Paint Fire Sale - Friday
We are having a paint fire sale on Friday, June 6th from 10 am to 5 pm. It will be at our location, 70 N. 6th Street, between Whyth and Kent Aves. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
We have a quarts, gallons, and 5 gallon buckets in flat, eggshell, and semi gloss. The two brands are AFM Safecoat and Yolo Colorhouse. All paint is ZERO VOC or LOW VOC. The paint is already mixed and was either mixed incorrectly or returned by the customer. But the colors are generally very nice.
The quarts are $ 8.50 each (normally $ 13 each)
The gallons are $ 25 each (normally $ 41 each)
The 5 gallons are $ 110 each (normally $ 110 each)
All sales are final.

Buyer Beware! Price Gouging in Ft Greene
Yesterday we stopped by Fresh Gardens on Fulton in Ft Greene to pick up a few items. Amongst them we wanted sugar cubes (1 lb box) and Walkers Shortbread Rounds (5.3 oz). When we saw the Walkers price tag of $6.89 and the sugar cubes for $9.99 we were astounded and figured something was amiss. We walked out empty handed and made our way to the Korean deli next to CT Muffin on Lafayette to compare. True enough, we found our Walkers for $3.89 and sugar cubes for $5.69! Buyers beware!

One Hanson retail update?
Has anyone heard an update about what will go into this space?
As far as I know, the rumored Borders plan is dead.

rental prices for retail/commercial space in Greenpoint
Does anyone have a ballpark idea of how much a retail/commercial space on Franklin Street in Greenpoint would currently rent for (per square foot)? I live in a rent-stabilized first-floor apartment there and my landlord is very eager to move me out so he can convert my apartment to a commercial space, possibly for an as-yet-unnamed buyout fee. In the unlikely event I accept, I'm wondering what a realistic fee would be, given what my landlord stands to gain.

Would Bed Stuy Benefit from Luxury Bed / Bath Store?
Hi Brownstoners,
My husband and I live in Bed Stuy on Halsey Street and are tossing around the idea of opening up a luxury bed and bath linen store somewhere in the neighborhood. We are thinking of offering designers like Frette, Sferra Brothers as well as lesser known brands that offer Egyptian Cotton sheets with high thread count at slightly discounted prices. My question is, would our neighborhood benefit from having this business? I'm not even sure of having a retail space, I may just advertise on this site to the right and take orders from a home office.
What do you think? Honest opinions are appreciated...even if you think this idea would not work.
Thanks, Brownstoners.
