Need a good internist/gynecologist
I have only lived in Brooklyn for a year. I am not sure if I will move back to Manhattan but that's another subject for another day. I need a really good internist and gynecologist. I saw a new one in Manhattan last week & she sucked. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much. Natalie

New York mag article on Brownstoner community
Hi:
With your host's kind permission, I'm posting here -- I'm working on an article about the dynamics of blogs like Brownstoner, which primarily cover/cater to a community.
If you're an active poster (or longtime lurker) at Brownstoner and would be willing to talk to me, either on/off record, please contact me at:
adam (dot) sternbergh (at) nymag (dot) com
Thanks.

Bed Stuy Inquiry
My husband and I are considering a house near the corner of Macon and Stuvesant (east of Stuy). Any insight from those who live in the area regarding this block would be appreciated... Vibe, safety, community, etc...

Affordable Housing
NYC Affordable Housing Resource Center.
Excellent information on what is available in housing and also about renting an apartment and buying a home.
You will also find information about apartment maintenance issues.
You will also find all of the city's affordable housing lotteries.

Hot Bird
Does anyone remember Hot Bird? Did you eat there? Was it any good? Where was it, exactly? Love the name...very evocative, to me, at least, of NY in the 70s.

Meeting the new neighbors
We're buying a condo in a building that was fully renovated. Most of the 8 units have contracts signed with a couple of contracts out...but basically everyone seems in place. No unit has closed.
Is there a way or a place to meet our new neighbors and talk prior to our closing and moving in? It seems like this is something that the online world would offer easily and that others would want.
Our building is 457 Prospect Place.
Thanks for any suggestions on this.
There's no category for this already but I would make a category for "neighbors" or "negotiations"

Affordable Hotel or B&B near Ft. Greene
My parents will be stopping through for a night next weekend and I need a place for them to stay as my place is too small. I’ve been looking for hotels in the area, but they all seem crazy expensive.
The Mariott at the Bk bridge is $429 a night (!?)
The Days Inn is farther than they want to stay, and looks scary to them (they are from the ‘burbs)
The Holiday Inn Express is $288 a night
I found Regina’s B&B on Ft Greene Pl but there is a 3 night stay minimum.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Ideally something around 150$ would be great… I think they would really like a local B&B if I could find one that would take them for only one night.
