Leaking Radiator?
First time posting, any help, suggestions, experiences would greatly appreciated. Oct.2007 winter heating fine, Oct.08 winter fine, spring 09, saw water spot on garden level. understand that it's coming from radiator above (front parlor).
Radiator turned on for this season, water started to drip.
Opened ceiling last week with GC. Can't find anything, radiator area dried up due to heat. We changed valve to see if that might be it.
Nothing happened till this morning, (almost a week later) water started dripping again.
GC mentioned if it's not the valve, then he have to replace the whole radiator which would cost a few thousand.
Thank you,
christina

Steam Heating Systems
I own a 1919 three-unit house in Brooklyn New York which has a steam heating system with radiators in each units using one boiler. I’d like to replace the steam heat radiators in two of the units with a force air heat using two difference furnaces. I would like to leave the present steam system and boiler to heat the larger unit. Could the present steam heat system be separated and adjusted to heat the larger unit keeping the present radiators while I would remove the radiators from the other units?

Convector vs Standard
Considering changing my standard cast iron radiators out for older cast iron convector radiators. I have a one pipe steam system with two supply lines - one to the front of the house, one to the rear. The convector radiators require a shorter fire time from the boiler to heat up, but also cool faster and call for more heat faster than the standard iron radiators. Will there be enough time between firings for the steam to condensate and drain before meeting new steam (causing the banging and knocking in the pipes)? Is this not even a consideration? Any advise, pros/cons welcome. I'm sure there are other factors related to my system to consider...

EDR for Convector radiator?
Sorry I did not realize only one picture was allowed in each post and I cannot figure out how to edit the post once it is up. Here is a picture of the steam convector radiator I wish to calculate the EDR for.

Radiator Paint Color Options
I have three cast iron radiators I'm soon going to paint them and want some finish ideas. Two of them have new fittings installed by a plumber so they can easily be removed and painted in a separate area.
I'd like to hear some ideas for available color finishes.
From what I've read, the high-heat paint (example: Rustoleum) is the type to use. I've used this paint before in both the spray and the can...it is very thin paint made to leave a thin paint film for maximum transmission of heat.
The Rustoleum I've seen only comes in three colors: white, almond, metallic. The metallic color is a bit uninspired...it just looks like the blah aluminum paint you see on most repainted radiators.
Are there any other products or finishes out there that have some more character? The radiators themselves are sort of interesting and certainly can be made to be more so with the right paint treatment.
Some sort of patina’d cast iron look, or pewter, or slightly weathered bronze…or perhaps something with color? I recall reading Farrow and Ball literature that their paint is acceptable for use on radiators.
Ideas? Pics?
One last question: a heat riser I did a year back is starting to rust through the metallic paint. I used a grinder with a wire wheel and sand paper on that riser to strip it down to bare metal (took time and made a mess). Finished it before it oxidized with Rustoleum high heat metallic paint. Another riser finished in similar fashion is doing fine.
Thanks.

ISO entry way radiator
I'm in search of a radiator for a brownstone entry way (so, tall and narrow is best). We had a perfectly good specimen which was stolen off our front stoop shortly after it was prepped and painted and now needs to be replaced. Any leads appreciated.
