Hi...I am moving into a new apartment in Prospect Heights. It is really one big loft room but I wanted to get it painted properly. Does anyone have any local recommendations?

Thanks so much!

Excellent Painter

Excellent Painter

I highly recommend Jamie Grubb of Spring's Painting Company
(917) 446-5175 jamie.grubb@gmail.com.

We purchased a condo in Boerum Hill in August 2009 and read excellent reviews of his work on Brownstoner. We also have friends that used his painting service and highly recommended his work as well. Jamie worked closely with us to establish a schedule and worked within our budget. Throughout the process, he offered suggestions which enhanced the overall outcome of the paint project. The painters on Jamie’s team were meticulous, friendly and hard working.

The final outcome of the paint job far exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Jamie and his team.

Excellent House Painter

I'd like to give a glowing recommendation for Eric the Handyman as an excellent house painter.

He's local. He's efficient. He's reasonable. He does a great job.

He does electrical, plumbing, carpentry, home repair, closets and pretty much everything else, but in this case I called him to do a paint job to cover up some pretty horrific looking dark walls in our new apartment and to repair some minor ceiling damage.

He and his partner, Tony, got the job done in the time they said they would. They were quiet, friendly, knowledgable, excellent listeners, were organized, had good attention to detail, were clean and tidy and also did touchups and made sure everything was in it's place at the end of the project. He also reinforced a shelf while he was at it for fear of it falling down and was nice enough to replace a lightbulb for me. They kept to a consistent and punctual schedule and gave me periodic updates on how it was going. They were flexible with my schedule and were prompt at scheduling a start date. The end result was pretty amazing and the apartment got the cheery facelift it needed. Eric's prices were reasonable and he was an excellent communicator.

How much to paint an apt?

What is a reasonable price to pay to have an 800 sq foot apartment painted - ceiling, closets, 2 coats, I provide the paint. I'm getting a very wide range of quotes. Thanks.

Great House Painter

I recently found a great house painter through my college alumni list serve. She mentioned most of her business last year was generated through client refs on Brownstoner so I've signed up to post her info and help connect her with more clients.

Kate Taylor is an exceptional painter with lots of experience working on older homes (such as my own). She is currently skim-coating two of our four bedrooms and the walls are looking really beautiful. She has also been a great help with color and finish selection. She is reasonably priced, particularly considering the quality of the work. Kate's number is 443-465-6490. Thanks Kate!

Painter Recommendation

Painter Recommendation

Hi everyone,

Coming out of lurkdom to recommend a painter that I found through this forum.

Jamie Grubb (917-446-5175) did an awesome job, painting our bedroom, kitchen, and office, plus some plastering in our kitchen. He and his team were extremely professional. The entire job took only two and a half days, and we couldn't be happier with the results. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and can't recommend him enough - the photo doesn't really do it justice. His name seems to come up a lot on this forum and we can see why!

If you have any questions or would like to see more photos please feel free to ask!

Painting/Lite Const. Needed

Hi -

We need some interior work done on our condo including

- some minor drywall repair
- painting
- installation of an automatic blind for a skylight

The minor complication is that interior scaffolding will need to be used in order to do some of the work, which I'm relying on the contractor to provide.

Insurance is an absolute must.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!
