Moving Car from Coast to Coast

Moving Car from Coast to Coast

I need to hire a mover to bring my '66 Chevelle across the country. Has anybody had their car shipped? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Mover Recommendation

I used www.callpaultohaul.com today to move some of my daughter's furniture from Astoria Queens to Park Slope. Paul was really prompt, (he got to her apartment before me!), polite and fast. I would highly recommend him.

In House Movers

Can anyone recommend a moving company that handles in-house moves? I need to move a few pieces of heavy furniture from one floor to another in my brownstone. It is a pretty straightforward job except that the sofa will probably need to be disassembled and reassembled in order to get it up the stairs. Any recommendations?

ISO Great Moving Company

I'm moving soon and am looking for a full service moving company. Any suggestions? Any I shouldn't use?
Thank you so very much.

Great Movers

A friend had recommended Applause Movers to me when I moved two years ago, and they did such a good job that I hired them again when I moved yesterday. Once again, I was very pleased with them, so I thought I should recommend them to others on Brownstoner.

They arrived right on time, were amazingly fast and efficient, and took great care with my fragile items. They even helped me disassemble my desk to get it up the spiral staircase in my duplex.

They aren't the cheapest guys out there, but you definitely get what you pay for.

Internal Move

I've got to find someone to move one floor of our furniture to the basement so our renovation can begin. Can anyone recommend two strong movers?
Thanks!

Rec: Call Paul to Haul

I hired Call Paul to Haul last week to move some large furniture pieces, and I have nothing but good things to say about him. He showed up on time (actually early), took care loading up my stuff in his van, and was very friendly. He had absolutely no problem schlepping my stuff up a 4th floor walk up apt and had VERY reasonable rates. www.callpaultohaul.com

Need Help to Disassemble Sofa

We have a large sleep sofa that I believe needs to be taken apart in order to move it out of it's current location (barely fit in the first place), and then reassembled in a new location in the house. I've heard of companies that can do this, but wondering if anyone has a personal recommendation? Thanks.

Suggestions - moving boxes?

Wife and I need to pack up our two floors to shunt things upstairs while they are doing renovations on the bottom two floors.

Anyone have suggestions for a cheap source of moving boxes? Preferably used ones that we can pick up inexpensively?

Just want to (1) try to save a little and (2) re-use existing boxes rather than buying new ones.

moving permits?

Hello,

My wife and I are moving to Brooklyn at the end of June from LA. I am wondering about the need for moving permits/costs, both for large 53 ft. rigs (our moving company's truck) to enter NYC (I imagine through Holland Tunnel) and to park in Brooklyn. We are looking to move into Prospect Park, Park Slope or Fort Greene neighborhoods. I have read both that parking permits are not needed, and that parking permits are needed. I have also read parking is not possible, and that the movers will have to park in NJ or something and van/shuttle over our stuff. Finally my mover is saying there may be some sort of charge for a large truck to even enter New York. Has anyone heard of this? Anyone out there move from the west coast to Brooklyn, and have to deal with these sorts of issues?

Many thanks,

N.
