Locksmith recommendations?
We need to get a locksmith to re-do all the locks on our new house (whoohoo). Its Brooklyn College/Midwood area, but any recommendations in Brooklyn would be great.
Thanks.

allstar locksmith
in response to jeremy..anyone with any sense will realize there are always 2 sides to a story..when i first recieved the call to fix a broken buzzer..when we first arrived we saw that someone had already tried to remedy the situation on there own..there where several pulled out and exposed wires.it was a mess.usally id walk away from a job like that but i decided to help anyway.. we troubleshooted and traced the wires and found one of them was broken , we repaired it for them and changed a bad tranformer for them, immidetly the transformer blew..why because of a shorted electric strike.. we figued someone played with that also and crossed the wires, which we had no way of knowing until the system was running.. so we replaced the strike and had to replace the transformer again. everything was fine..about a week later david and jeremy call explaining they had a problem. and we knew from what they decribed that it had nothing to do what the work we had done for them, so when i explained that to them they immideatly started threating me that they where going to do exactly what they did here and that they were lawyers and would give me trouble . after letting them know i have lawyers and judges in my family they calmed down alittle and i agreed to come to see them anyway.which i had no problem doing in the first place , but they didnt make it easy they werent very nice. well when me and lee got there we checked everything for them and everything was working fine..david called jeremy and explained to him that we were right and it had nothing to do with the work we did..
they possibly had another problem..we shook hands and said if they needed us back we were here for them. after a few weeks gone by i happened on this site and saw this..do not use allstarlocksmith... pretty upsetting after we did a fine job for them and even took 50.00 off for rewiring there broken wire.this work was done on june 3 2008.On july 7 2008
I called david and asked if everything was working ok, he said yes everything is fine, then i asked if he could remove this blog..he said he would talk to his niegbor jeremy( not even the owner) ..i waited a few days and it is still here..i finally called jeremy myself and asked him the same question is everything working ok..he says yes,and i ask if he can remove this blog for me ..he said he would considerate it(not even an an apology?)...its still here.. so in response here i am...we hold high our response time, honesty and back up our work, as told here.

DO NOT USE ALL-STAR LOCKSMITH
I want to relate a story that should make sure no one who reads this will ever patronize All-Star Locksmith in Park Slope. In a nutshell, they "fixed" our broken buzzer, charged us over $500, and then when the buzzer immediately started malfunctioning, they first blew off an appointment to fix their shoddy work, and then claimed that we'd have to pay anew for that work.

What type of screw is this?
The lock on my front door is fastened using screws like this. Does anyone know what they may be called, what type of driver would be used, and where I might be able to find one?
Thanks...

Locksmith and Lockset for 3" Entrance Door
So in my ongoing crusade to finish my house, I am looking to put a stronger lockset in my front door. I have this very thick 3" (or maybe 2 7/8) door which is too heavy for the standard mortise handset with turn-knob currently (poorly) installed. Anyone have a recommendation for a good locksmith? And should I buy the lockset myself, or is that something I order through a good locksmith. (The kind I am looking at - with the thumb lever and pull handle - seem to run about 500-600 online). Thanks!

Video Intercom System - Has anyone used FGI Security?
We are looking to replace the video intercoms in each of the units in our coop. I called several companies and the only one who called me back was FGI Security. I found them on the internet. Has anyone heard or them or used them? Thanks.

SECURITY SYSTEMS?
Hey everyone,
My wife and I are about to purchase a brownstone in Ft. Greene, and are going to install a security system. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions? Was thinking it would be good to have cameras installed at the front doors as well as the back yard and roof.
Help.

High Tech Lock & Security
This is the worst locksmith I've dealt wiht. I needed a repair on my intercom system for a four story brownstone. I called High Tech and was told that a service call would cost $60.00 for the call, plus parts. At no time was I informed of any labor charges. The "technician" arrived, fixed the intercom in 35 minutes using no new parts, then wanted to leave my intercom box hanging off the wall with wires exposed. I told him to put everything back the way he found it. the total job took 90 minutes and I was hit with a bill for $369.00. At no time prior to his completing the call was I told of this outrageous price. A call to the company knocked $100.00 off the bill, but a $100.00 per hour labor charge that I was not informed of is a complete ripoff. Worse than that, I noticed their web site and invoices do not give a physical address for the company. Perhaps today I am the example of "live and learn". I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company and have a call in to the Better Business Bureau. I will never call this "company" again. Does anyone know a reputable intercom service company I could call in the future?

Locksmith for Antique Hardware
I am looking for someone to repair hardware on the front door of our brownstone. The mortise is MultiLock and the rest is antique. I have been told replacing the whole thing would be very expensive. Any recommendations?
