chandelier for sale
Chandelier for sale from my house I'm renovating. Not sure of the provenance but it doesn't appear to be old, more like 1950s-1970s Nevertheless it's a well-made piece, and works fine. You can see a larger image at

rewiring light
I just purchased art deco sconces and they need to be rewired. Any thoughts on a good shop to rewire these vintage scones? Thanks.

Where are the best places to buy light fixtures?
We need several fixtures for formal and informal spaces in a 1880s brownstone. Period to modern. Any recommendations in BK or Manhattan? Txs!

Help me ID these lamps
Hi all:
I'm about to start demo in this house and there are two interesting looking fixtures I'd like to save. Not because I find them attractive, in fact they are hideous, but they seem to be well made and expensive (when they were bought.)
The chandelier is at

and the bathroom fixture at

If anyone can ID a style, period, name, value, etc. I'd appreciate it. And if you've been looking for just this cuz it matches something, pls feel free to make an offer

Gas Lanterns
A while back someone posted looking for gas lanterns for the front yard. I was just watching This Old House and they are doing a place in New Orleans and are having gas lanterns made by a place called Bevelo. The website is www.legacylanterns.com which is a distributor for Bevelo and literally hundreds of other gas lamps.

opinions on lighting fixtures wanted
okay -- so i'm obsessing over lighting fixtures right now and i'm *hoping* i can get some opinions on brownstoner on how these two would work together. They would be installed on the parlor floor and you would be able to see them at the same time when the pocket doors are opened -- and I'd like to know what people think about how these two fixtures would look together.
I was thinking putting the ornate one in front of the plainer one would work but i have NO experience in this process -- hence my search for opinions.
if you absolutely hate the fixtures, don't hold back. but i don't care as much about that as i do about how the two would work together...

LED ceiling lights instead of high hats?
We are renovating the garden floor of our brownstone and all interior walls are removed. Any comments on LED overhead ceiling lights as opposed to high hats? The LED's are much more $$ but , aside from saving cost in electricity, are there any other advantages?

Open Parlor Floor Lighting
We are renovating a 17' wide, 40 ft long townhouse. We are moving the kitchen to the back of the parlor and the front will be an open dining room/living room. If you've done this, or seen it done well, how did you resolve the issue of placement/amount/type of overhead lighting in the front area (the kitchen is taken care of)? The ceiling medallions were gone when we bought, but we've kept a decorative fireplace. Current plan is for 1 large pendant (chandelier-style) centered above the dining area and 1 large pendant centered in front of the fireplace. But we think we need more light -- what could we place (and where) that won't look cluttered, cheesy or assymetrical?
