Looking for old Floorboards.

Does anyone have any floorboard that they are interested in parting with? I need some to redo my first floor, some of the wood rotted out and I don't want to put down plywood.

help needed with sagging floors/reinforcement

hi,
we bought our frame house in park slope 4 years ago and since then we have noticed the floor has a slant to it. we called an engineer and now know that one of the wooden support beams has to to re replaced with steel. Who do I even call first to get this sort of job done? Also someone told me the house might have to be "jacked up" - I can just imagine the cost...
any help would be greatly appreciated

Foundation cracks

The soon to be completed luxury condo bldg. next to my house has been a long and somewhat unpleasant experience. My house has suffered some cracks in the foundation and I am curious about the longterm effects and further structural damage which may occur.

Indoor Venting Dryers

I recently moved into a condo that included a stacked washer/dryer combo. The dryer has one of those "lint catchers" that you fill with water and is supposed to catch lint and reduce humidity. For the first month or two I was not aware that I had to fill this with water and used a make shift screen to keep the lint in the box as I had never seen one of these contraptions before.
My question is, are these "lint catchers" acceptable? The humidity has already made the paint on my walls run and I can only imagine what is going on behind the drywall. Are there dryers that are self ventilating? I fee like all high-end condos with washer/dryer units that do not vent outside are slowly giving themselves a world of mold.

I want to put in a cement basketball court area in my back yard. Anybody have anyone to recommend for this? preferably the installer would be able to handle some of the aesthetic issues involved.

~280s.f. bluestone for sale at $4.64 per s.f.

I have ~280s.f. of bluestone left and I am selling this lot for $1300, which comes to $4.64 per s.f., I sold the previous lots for $5.50 per s.f. (18.5% discount on this last one). The bluestone is in 2X2 feet pieces (4 s.f. each) the thickness varies between 3/4 and 1 1/4 inches. The stone is located in Park Slope, Brooklyn and you will have to provide for your own delivery. I would like to sell the entire amount, but will possibly consider smaller amounts. If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible by either e-mailing me or calling my cell 1 917 270-9310.

Frame House. How tall are we aloud to build?

We are considering buying a frame house around Gowanus. The house has the garden floor and three more. The last one is an extended dormer. Not higher than 7 feets. I've heard we won't be aloud by law to rise the roof to a full 8 or 9 feets. Is it true? Can we build a roof deck? I have checked the online version of the Building Codes but I don't find any references. Anybody has information about the subjetct?

slope around the foundation

the all brick colonial style house is around 17 years. I just found out that some of the land slopes towards the foundation. The lot is not level. One day after the heavy rain, I discovered that the water is keep flowing down to near my basemdnt window for one or two days. ( about 2in. below the wood trim of my basement window.) The window is neart the northside corner and the water is running down from the west side corner near the foiundation. The west side land is under a deck and is sloping toward the foundation. Who can I call for correcting this problem ? My basement has sump pump and never flooded. How can I find out whether there is drainage around the foundation. We bought this house 10 years ago and the original owner is no where to be found.
