Free salvage - take my house apart, please ..
I am gut renovating a three story brownstone in Carroll Gardens. I have stripped and sold most everything of any value, but in the interest of keeping as much as possible out of the landfill - if anyone wants to have one last go at anything left that is salvageable, pls contact me. There are doors, molding, kitchen appliances, washing machine, etc., that might be of interest.
And to all my "green" friends, don't worry: anything left of any use will go to Build it Green or Rebuilder's Resource. Kurt - 917-886-9323 or kurtdwill@yahoo.com

Advice - how to safeguard my rights ? Demolition/dev. to begin next door
Last week we received notice of demolition which will be taking place directly next to our house in Crown Heights.
The gossip on the street is that this double lot house/vacant space will be developed into medium rise condominiums.
How can I find out what the developers plans are, and how can I be sure that they do not overbuild ? Are there proactive steps that I should be taking now – such as taking pictures of the exterior of my house etc. etc. ? Who should I turn to for advice – a RE lawyer ? An Architect ?
Any advice would be appreciated.

How much for Demo ?
Anyone get a complete interior demo (leaving only joists and studs) recently? How big was your house and how much did you pay? Just trying to get a ballpark figure before getting bids on a job.

Demo a tile floor?
Hi everybody,
My dad and I did the demo of my kitchen this weekend, but taking out the tile floor proved too big of a job. It's ceramic tile set in 2 inches of mortar, and would have taken us forever.
Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who does this kind of work?

A question about MOLD
Hey all, I'm looking at purchasing a building and moving into one of the apts. After I saw the building and before my offer was accepted the seller demolished the unit I was hoping to occupy. (this was fine, we were planning on doing the same). However the problem is when the demo crew did their work in the fall, they did not cap the radiator. As a result steam has been pouring into the space. Whats worse is that condensation has been collecting on the un-insulated bathroom vent (pictured here) that runs to the outside. (cold air inside + hot moist air outside = condensation which leads to mold.)
After informing the seller of this problem he immediately capped the radiator, thus removing the root of the problem the space is dry otherwise. I will require him to get a professional crew to clean up the mold.
My question is; if the moisture source is removed, the spores are cleaned up and all vents are insulated, will this mold be a recurring problem in the future?

Need A Dumpster
Hi Brownstoners,
Could anyone please recommend a not so expensive dumpster rental. We just gutted a sizable amount of our garden level floor and need to take it out ASAP. Dump Removal Guys and Contractors are quoting prices way beyond our budget.
