Tin Ceiling Installation?
Can anyone recommend someone to install tin ceilings in about 300 sq feet of space? Any idea how much this might cost (parts + labor)?

Paint and Exposed brick
I just rented an apartment where one entire wall is hideous exposed brick. I'm over the shiny faux-fabness of it all but now I can't decide what color would be a good fit for the other 3 walls. I don't want to paint the brick cause I pride myself on getting my deposit back. The room has a nice mirrored fireplace mantel with columns on it which is already white there's also original moulding around the windows which is white so the space has good bones. My first thought was to choose something pastel-ish since the brick swallows the light but i'm unsure. I also considered that sage color thats recurring in Restoration Hardware's color palate. I should note two things - the apt is a studio so I've only got one room to make a good decision paint wise. Also, I ALWAYS choose the wrong color paint it looks good on the fan deck then horrible on the walls. please help!

Beautiful mahogany rails?
Nope, it's been woodgrained. Not wanting to go throught the mess of stripping the bannister, I decided to take a stab at producing a mahogany woodgrain. I've done this before with antique auto moldings so had some experience.
First lay a base of a neutral brown. As an example of colors, I'll use the Benjamin Moore Virtual Fan deck names. Paint a single coat of Acorn brown. Then, with a 2" brush ( no fancy brushes or "combs") lay in some deep red similar to Tucson Red. You don't want to cover all of the base brown, just streak it. Then, on top of that lay in some streaks of deep, solid black, not in any particular pattern but just long strokes "with the grain." You should then see part red and part black. Finally, give it a nice coat of Minwax Bombay Mahogany Gloss Polyshades. This stain includes the gloss polyurethane. Usually, I don't like gloss bit for the bannister it loooks a lot better.

Interior designers?
Just moved in to new space and need help getting it together. Can anyone recommend a designer / decorator? Ideally, one who could do a consultation and maybe advise re: how to put the rooms together. Don't mind doing some of the work myself - and not looking to gut the place - it's brand new - just don't have an eye for how to pull it all together. Also, I have a lot of new furniture that I'd like to keep - just need help putting it together.

Shutters or Shades?
I'd like to take a quick poll. We're deciding between plantation shutters and silhouette shades (both in white, both Hunter Douglas) for our new condo. Both are beautiful, but different looks. Would welcome opinions on which is more desirable. For pics go to the "Product" page on www.hunterdouglas.com Thanks!

Affordable Interior Design
A while back I remember reading something about an interior design service that would come into your place and help you rework a room (mostly) using materials/furniture you already have, but I can't find any info about it...I've got a back room facing a brick wall that I've given up trying to make useful on my own, but I don't want to hire a full blown design firm.
Does anybody have any contacts that provide this type of service for the spacially impaired?

Tin Ceilings
We have established in an earlier post tha Abbington tin is sadly closed. A blessing a curse of that pace is that they took special care of the wares sold and sold items that others did not--such as treated tin panels and "corners". Unfortunately we are shore a couple of panels of our treated tin ceiling and do not know with what abbington treated the panels. COnsequently-we can not match up the colors of the new panel purchased from tin supply in Bushwick and those we purchased from abbington. Does anyone have a clue as t how to get in tuch with the folks that ran abbington or how to determine what type of coating they affixed to their panels?
thanks.
