Thermocrete vs rebuild
Has any one used Thermocrete to seal their flue? After getting a $5K per chimney quote to rebuild each flew (brick & mortar), we had AAA Chimney (they offer Thermocrete) quote "relining" our 1st and second floor chimneys. Cost 10K.

chimney liner from boiler
i need to replace the chimney liner from the boiler in the basement up to the roof of a four storey brownstone.
i've had two quotes, one from Brookfield and one from Just Chimneys. There is a $3000 price difference. Both are to drop in 6" or 8" metal pipe liner.
Does anyone have any insight into the different estimates, any recommendations on either company or any recommendations for alternate companies I should contact.

Firebox installation
We need to have our chimneys relined. One of them serves a wood burning fireplace that has been closed up for years. We have good quotes on having the actual chimneys relined, but need to purchase a new firebox and screens and have them installed. Can anyone recommend a company that charges reasonable rates. I have heard wildly varying quotes for chimney work from my neighbors. Thanks.

recommendation for chimney contractor?
We need a new chimney liner, and possibly masonry work in the chimney area, for our 4-story brownstone. This chimney is for the building's gas boiler. Can anyone recommend someone based either on personal satisfaction, or excellent reputation? We have already received an estimate from "The Chimney Doctor" but it seems high.

chimney cleaning
I have a 5000sq. ft, 7 unit building that I have owned for 9 years.. I never have had the chimney (flue) cleaned. With a gas boiler, how often should I have the flue cleaned??

Gas Spillage
We just found out that the brownstone we moved into on 10/1 has a gas spillage. We are renting this apartment. Apparently the passageway in one of the fireplaces is blocked and preventing proper ventilation. After a week of living in this apartment we still don’t have hot water or gas. What kind of a technician is needed to fix this problem? Is this a huge operation?

Chimney Cleaning
Getting ready for winter they say one has to have chimney cleaned. I never did that for my house. Do people recommend that? And if yes, can you recommend a company that does good job?
