ADT security question
Curious if anyone else has experienced this: I canceled my maintenance contract with ADT about a year ago. Before that, I had no trouble with my alarm system. Since I canceled my maintenance contract, I have had several mysterious alarm events, two of which required someone to come out to my home. And of course I have to pay for this. It is infuriating. Anyone else believe ADT is setting off false alarms to squeeze more money out of their customers?

Crime on the rise in Brooklyn?
There was a recent rash of break-ins in my area of Williamsburg (the Italian off Lorimer ... probably the quietest part of WBURG).
Despite what police statistics say, it's definitely feeling less and less safe. A lot of my friends in Park Slope have been mugged at gunpoint within the past month.
So, does it feel like crime is starting to go up for anyone else? Things definitely feel less safe than last year.

Alarms for Apartment Unit?
I've read the archives about alarm systems, and they all relate to installing a system in a townhouse. Has anyone ever installed an alarm in their apartment? Would it be a markedly different type of system? I'm thinking of installing an alarm in a condo unit. Thank you.
Gorilla Estimate for Alarm System

Just got and estimate for installing security for an Upper West Side townhouse by Gorilla Security. It came up to about $10,000.
What do you people think about this price?
