Old World Plasterer Needed

I am looking for a plasterer that can recreate plaster ceiling mouldings and coving and even possibly restore the "wedding cake design" on several walls (the design above the picture moulding); same design also on the parlor hallway ceiling.

Anyone have recommendations/experience (good or bad) and what the going rates are these days?

Thanks

I've used a great plaster guy from a recommendation on this site. His name is Tom 347 224 8695 his prices are very fair and the work is 1st rate but he is usually busy (even these days). I had what sounds to be a similar ceiling to you which needed the corner plaster molding repaired, cracks fixed, etc.. He did a beautiful job on it.

I used Absolute Plaster to recreate part of a corner medallion and reset an existing piece and was pleased with their work. Call Fizroy at (917) 412-5593.

I've recommended Thad Simerly several times on this blog. He is great and easy to work with. His phone number is: (646) 831-8319

Hyde Park Mouldings, Inc. They are on the web. They have a huge inventory of stock profiles and can make anything. Their installers are excellent.

I need similar work done. Does anyone who was happy with the work done on their place feel comfortable briefly describing the job and the cost? I've been putting mine off forever because I've never been been able to find the moulding and assume it's not stock. Always assumed I couldn't afford it. Thanks.

I think Bergenbabe may have recommended Thad Simley to me. He was great! I had a piece of ornamental molding which fell off during some electrical work. The electricians couldn't fix it and it was very globby and messy looking anyway. Thad came over, looked at the molding on the ceiling, just happened to be working on the exact same molding in another house, had two extra pieces and replaced the broken piece and replaced a piece that was missing from when I bought the house. He is a nice guy, worked quickly, was reasonably priced and really knew what he is doing. It was one of those eye-blinking experiences. In 1 hour he had gone back to his site, picked up the pieces he had made, repaired my ceiling and was doine. Good luck with him; he was terrific.

I haven't worked with this company yet, but check out their website: www.decorplasterwork.com. Restoration work is done professionally.
