Housecleaning Cooperative

Apparently Brooklyn is home to a worker-owned house cleaning business called Si Se Puede! (Yes, We Can!), a worker-owned remodeling business called We Can Fix It!, and another worker-owned childcare business called Beyond Care. Anyone ever used any of these?

These kind of structures can be nominal (profit sharing checks of $2 a year) or involve interminable, pointless meetings, but it's gotta be slightly better than minumum wage.

I used Si Se Pueda last week for a deep cleaning of an aparment before I turned it back over to its owner.

The estimate and appointment booking on the phone was easy, accurate, and I got a cleaner for the next morning. Although their site says they would like a longer lead time for first time customers, it wasn't mentioned.

My cleaner was pleasant, arrived on time and did an excellent job. Price was fair, or below what I had heard from other services. $105 for deep scrubbing clean of empty 1br apt including inside the fridge etc.

From their site, they apparently have 20 or so cleaners. They request that you provide cleaning supplies. All payment apparently goes to the cleaners, but I presume they pay some sort of due to cover the person who takes the calls. I am not sure.

Would totally recommend them.

Spoke with one of the house cleaners

Money goes straight to the worker. The price to clean a house was high compared with what neighbors are paying & we decided to keep looking. I like the idea in principle.

I signed up just so that I could write a positive review. We hired Si se puede for a housecleaning and the woman who came was very nice and did a great job. I recommend contacting them!

Anyone know if they clean all over Brooklyn, or only Sunset Park?
