Replace Door Handles
Would like to replace all my doors handles which are cheapies with one that I bought in Anthropologie (on sale). However it seems that the bar is too long. Can I bring these to a hardware to get cut to right size? Or will I need a professional to perform this task.

Which bar??? The threaded one that the knobs thread onto??? Just cut it with a hack saw.

The square spindle?
some are threaded others are not- depends how it sets. The standard spindle is for a 1.75" door. Yours must be less. I would do what dibs said to do. If you go to a locksmith, take the lockset with you as there are three spindle sizes and several different types.
