Recarpet Common Stairwell
Does anyone know a good (cheap) place to buy carpeting for stairs? I'd also need it installed. It's for the common hallway, so I'm not looking for anything fancy.

I heard Carpet warehouse on Atlantic is reasonable. I ended up using Alto steps which were pricey but look good.

Depending on whom you go, to prices vary, Typical installations rates are $2.75 pre yard plus additional 2.25 per step.
Example:
10 yards of carpet =$27.50
ten steps staircase =$22.50
Grand total $50.00

I've had a terrible experience with stairway carpet with Atlantic Warehouse.
Try "Carpets on U"....they did my common halls and stairways and did a great job at a fraction of the price...their location, not in brownstone Brooklyn, but in a more working-class area served me well, price-wise. When I went, it was crowded with customers who seemed to give them lots of repeat business.
