Re-Arranging Baseboard Heating
Hi... can anyone recommend a plumber to help me with re-arranging or changing the size/layout of one of my baseboard radiators? I just need it to be shortened by about 3 feet.
Anyone have an idea of how much something like this might cost...?
thanks

are you talking about fin tube, or cast iron? If you are talking about fin tube, it s a very easy job. Should be one hour--two at the most if your system is hard to bleed. the plumber should be able to cut the sheet metal.

I believe it's fin tube. That's fantastic... so I'm looking at a few hundred bucks at most, it seems...

I'm in minnesota, but my family is in brooklyn. i'd do it for you if i were there. I just lengthened one the other day.
you'll know if it's fine tube if underneath the cover, there is a copper tube with aluminum fins. so the process is this
1. drain the water
2. cut the pipe(s)
3. cut the sheet metal--can be done with sheet metal shears. may have to unscrew the back to get under it.
4. take out length of pipe
5 use copper connectors to fit pipe back together
6. solder connection(s)
7. fill and bleed out air
8 put covers and end cap back on
Ill ask the family if they know a good plumber. or ask on this forum

I have done work like this on my house but I had to extend piping for a new fin base board heating for my foyer. I have a plumber friend that helped me and can possibly help you. Email is hvacr007@gmail.com. Tell him that Anthony sent you.
