Peerless or Weil McLain

For Gas powered Steam heat would you use a Peerless boiler or a Weil McLain?

Reasons would be helpful.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Every home inspector I've dealt with in sales has sung the praises of Weill McLain. One calls them "the Mercedes Benz of boilers."

I recently sold an apartment in a co-op building that had replaced their boiler a few years ago -- after a protracted and thorough bout of comparison shopping they went with Weill McLain as well.

Not for steam. I prefer Peerless to Weil-McLain for steam boilers, unless you need a tankless coil to make hot water.
Truth be told, there's not much difference between the two of them and Burnham is better than both of them.

steam boilers are all basically slabs cast iron stacked together...the difference is in how the slabs are connected... push nipples vs elastomer seals... hence master plumbers preference for burnhamand peerless, which both use push nipples..

I second the Burnham recommendation. Had mine installed 9 years ago and has been trouble-free and very efficient.

Thank you for your insights.

I am limited to Peerless and Weil Mclain because I need a knockdown to get into a narrow stairwell and I am told Burnham for steam is not available as a knockdown setup.

Thanks again.
