Restoring Detail to Brownstone
I had the paint stripped off the stoop and pillars last summer - and resurfaced with brown-colored cement. I lost some detail in the process (blurred) and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for an artisan to come by and chisel back some of the details.

The detail needs to be formed in the process of laying the new cement. It can't be chiseled in afterwards.
Search Forum under "Facade" for recommendations. My guy did a great job but he is not insured and some people have a problem with that.

I doubt that they'd chisel, they'd more likely rebuild. I just had similar work done by VinRoy of Park Slope Brownstone. The workmanship was so good that 3 neighbors hired them too after seeing mine.

No,I have never seen that done succesfully. You can't chisel stucco cement after it goes up and cures. You need to contact a experienced brownstoning firms to give you bids on a re-do.
