tips for storing window a/c unit
Any tips for storing a/c units so they stay clean?

I was thinking plastic covering might seal in moisture. Should I use cloth?

are you talking about the big metal box sticking outside of the window for most of the year and subjected to all the rain/dirt of the street?
The only tip I would give you - protect your basement from the dirt stuck to the window A/C.

I think JR appliances in Park Slope (and maybe other companies?) offers a service where they will pick up your A/C, clean it throughly and store it for the winter, then bring it back in the spring and reinstall it.
