The Toren
Congratulations to the architect and developers of the Toren. You have achieved a timeless passé, even before construction completes. This rivals the 1980s eyesores that litter outer times square. Except for it's shear size, the Toren conjures up an image of a cheap toddlers toy and a stack of light beer cans.
Yes, the new building to the west is wholly uninspired, but at least it isn't flailing in an attempted mystique. If the Toren was trying to make a statement it was, "Hee hee, I made a building!".
I'll enjoy passing it on Flatbush, knowing that it came online at the trough of the bust, and lost.

I agree the Toren isn't a superb piece of architecture but I also don't think it's god-awful.. it's just mediocre imo.. but im curious if u spurn this bldg so much, what bklyn bldg or bldgs do you find architecturally pleasing in contrast?

How interesting, Mikeal Davis that you created an account on brownstoner to make your first (and only) post on trashing this building.
I think it's a really terrific building...I love the look of it.
I bet you are a sales agent at Oro.

What are you talking about? The Toren is a good looking building, head and shoulders above all of the other mediocrities poking their heads up in that part of the world.

Toren is one of the more interesting buildings to come out of the boom and a good addition to downtown Brooklyn.
Was the purpose of this post to actually fish for compliments or to indulge your ego?

I like it. Reminds me of Star Wars.

I think he's trying out his first post after graduation from writing class. Back to school...

We almost pulled this because of the rant-y quality of the post and the poster's lack of a track record but the community seems to have put him in his place.
