Small washer/dryers
I have a relatively small laundry closet in my apartment.. it is a normal sized door and only about 25-26" deep. So far I have not found any stackable washer dryers that fit.. any ideas? The closet has a drain, hot & cold water hookups, regular and 440V socket and dryer vent.

I've never used a stackable but I'm surprised that you aren't fining them that depth. You could always build out the closet a few more inches, no??

If you have 440v, you're living in an industrial zone! 220 maybe.
What about that Bosch (imsr) single w/d condensing unit? Just dump your dirty clothes and come back to collect them all dried. It needs 220, not 110.

i heard the washer-dryer in one condenser/ventless units are not very good..

The 220 ones are OK, depending on your tolerance for doing smaller loads. 110 (Equator eg) takes 4-5 hours for dry cycle and do not dry all that well.

CMU, how long does the 220 ones take to dry? any opinions on gas vs electric dryers? am thinking gas ones are best in an old bldg where I dont want to test the electrical load of the wiring.

I have Bosch washer and dryer. The dryer is 220 electric, non vented and takes an hour to dry a load. These are not really small stackables though.

220v Bosch at 1hr 4kw=95c. Gas dryer 40mins @ 20kbtu=25c. Roughly.
Gas dries faster and cheaper. You'd use electric if 1) no gas or 2) want a condensing combined w/d unit.
check the compact apps site from above, Ariston stackables 22" deep. expensive.

I recently replaced my 10 yr old Frigidaire Gallery apartment size stackables with the Bosch Axxis stackables ... with the regular electric dryer ... NOT the ventless dryer. I read some horror stories about the ventless dryer. After a few false starts, everything is working fine now. Because the power cord is hardwired into the washer, I needed to change my 220 3-prong outlet to a 4-prong. Also, the dryer wasn't heating up and they had to replace the thermostat.
A few caveats ... the smaller Bosch do not use bleach due to the hose setup. You must use a chlorine bleach alternative detergent ... but my experience is it doesn't whiten as well as good old Chlorox. While the units are small and wash as large a load as my old units did, it does take longer to dry; altho once finished, my clothes are dry. With The Frigidaire, I often had to run the dryer a few times with towels. The Bosch Axxis washer beeps to signal the end of cycle, but my dryer does not ... only the top model does.
The Frigidaire Gallery units are not quite as small, but still available and they are quite serviceable. I saw them available at PC Richards as well as Sears.

so i checked out that sight they are much more expensive (the Bosch or Ariston) compared to standard sized units. I may be better off with continuing my trips to the laundromat?! lol
