Rate for Cleaning 4fl Bstone?

What is the "going rate" for getting a 4-floor brownstone cleaned in the CG/CH neighborhood?

What if we had someone come twice a week cleaning two floors at a time (since cleaning all four 2x a week feels like overkill).

Just curious what people are paying these days. I don't want to underpay (or overpay) and want to have ability over time to increase.

I pay a cleaning lady 80 bucks for one day a week for my 2,300 sf house. General cleaning for 7 hours and I provide lunch.

You should get someone twice a week because 4 floors is too much in one day for anyone, I think.

4 floors may be OK in one day, depends on the house. When I did it, one of the places was a narrow brownstone, 4 floors, 2 rooms on each floor. I worked there once a week.

Re: prices. Figure out about $12/hr at the low end. But again, it depends on how complicated the cleaning is - if you have lots of furniture, fancy surfaces, fragile stuff on the shelves, etc., you want someone who knows what they are doing and not destroying your property.

Our cleaning lady gets 100.00 for 3,000 square feet on 3 floors. She spends about 6 to 7 hours we usually spring for lunch. This is in Midwood, she moved with us, used to clean our coop in Windsor Terrace.

What adiffernce...BH cleaners ask about $20/hour. $75 for a one bed/bath apartment (half day)!

$12 is pretty cheap. I pay $130 to get two+ floors cleaned really well. She's generally here for 7-8 hours.

This has all been extremely helpful, thanks!

Out of curiousity, for most of you, does your cleaning person also do laundry? Admittedly we are really spoiled in having our laundry done too and shirts ironed which has just been something I almost find indispensible these days.

It sounds like paying $100/day (2x a week) isn't out of the ballpark if we really do split up to two floors a turn. Of course, again, we have the laundry in there.

Our place isn't overly fancy so there aren't tons of nooks and crannies.

My cleaning person does laundry--specifically stripping beds and doing sheets and towels. She doesn't really have time to do more than that in a day, but if I had her more often I'm sure she would.

I have a housekeeper who has been cleaning for me for 4 years and who does a great job and is very reliable and trustworthy. She even babysits for me occasionally. I know that she is always looking for more clients. If you're interested, let me know and I will send you her email address and number.
