Leaves over drainage in garden
Rain always gives me headache. Our drainage in garden get stuck with many fallen leaves and rainy water stays around. How do you prevent leaves from your drainage? What is the best way? Please share your thoughts and image(if possible) with me!! Thank you!

HD & Lowe's sell caps that screen the leaves. They look like holey thimbles - made of iron or other metal. You still have to clear them periodically.

We built a tube of wire mesh to put over the drain. You can get it at any hardware store. Make the tube about a foot high and place it so that it is standing upright, where the hallow part of the tube is over the drain. The water can flow but the leaves don't go in. There is one catch. You'll have to clean the leaves off of the tubing every now and again. But we found that the water does drain even though the leaves build up around the mesh, just not as efficiently.

I have this problem with a round 12 inch drain and the only good solution I have found is to be vigilant about raking/cleaning the garden.
My neighbors (who used to have the same problem) recently redid their backyard and put in a rectangular drain about 2 inches wide by 10 feet long running almost the whole length of their backyard covered with a grate over it. This seems to work very well.

alternativly you can replace trees with allways-green kind (i.e. pines) or artificial trees. :)
