Inquiry from my parents tenants

"Today the water in the kitchen and the bathroom, the water going into our britta for drinking and our bathtub for washing (wish I could say CLEANING), has been disgustingly brown! no joke, brown...

wonder if you know what's up. or if you could query the brownstoner community for any insights? and possibly solutions...."

Let me know what you all think.

certain sections of WT experienced brown water yesterday...
sometimes the Fire Department performs hydrant checks in different neighborhoods and the water temporarily is
discolored, disgusting to look at but safe.

I'm in Bay Ridge and had brown water on Monday and a little yesterday. I have to say that in all my 38 years of living in NYC this was the brownest I've ever seen. I called 311 about it but they had no info.

I also heard that if construction is going it could also cause brown water.

The Water Board tells you its safe to drink but I'd love to had a glass to whoever decided that and make him drink it!

BTW, the water has now returned to a palatable color.

Is DEP or any other construction company doing any work in the area or on your street? Even if the water isn't turned on or off, just the heavy trucks or demo equipment could stir up sediment in the water mains.
