Garage Parking

I currently park my car on Boerum Place near Atlantic Ave and pay $300 per month. What are the going rates that people pay its hard to get straight answers from the garages. BTW my car is an SUV. Thanks

300 sounds about right. decent deal if covered secured pkg.

I paid $125/mo in Manhattan (across the street from the main post office on 34th St/8th ave). It was covered parking/valet, etc. $300/mo sounds like a lot in Brooklyn.

Admittedly, I had to bargain for the rate I got, and had to deal with the garage owner staring at my boobs every single time I needed my car, but it was worth it. The whole garage thing is so shady; there is not really any set price and it just seems to depend on how you look, how much you're wearing, etc. I had a compact car (toyota corolla) but it didn't seem to make a difference at my garage what kind of car you were driving; just how you looked.

$300 is pretty average in that area of Brooklyn.

The garage on Atlantic and Court is up to $375 for new accounts (I believe they still grandfather in the monthly rate of those who got in when it was $300/$325, etc).

The garage at 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park is $187 or something like that. Not close to you, but just offering perspective. The garage on State, just west of Hicks, is in the $350 range (as are most of the Brooklyn Heights garages).

Also, a lot of garages charge extra for SUVs....

My old building on the corner of Boerum/Bergen is $225+ tax ($250) for indoor garage parking - SUV's included. They might even have openings, there is a constant rotation. Call the management # in the vestible.

There you have it.

Boobs, $125/month.
No Boobs, $300/month.

Strangely, I know a lot of people who had much better deals on monthly parking in Hell's Kitchen and Midtown West than downtown Brooklyn. There are so few lots/garages in Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill that it's more comparable to Greenwich Village in terms of higher monthly parking costs. Also, midtown seems to be more open to negotiations and strange concessions depending on use. (OTOH, valet is not such a big deal, given that the spaces are so peculiar and they pack them in so tightly valet is the only way to operate.)

If you are willing to park more in downtown brookyln, there are better rates, but the garages are not always accessible 24 hours a day. (Also, I don't know the SUV rates.)
