Competent Mortgage Officer
This might be a weird question but in the mortgage process, how do you know if you are dealing with someone "good?" I am a first time homebuyer and like all industries, I am sure there are people that are more competent than others... I wonder who really is responsible for getting the job done? the officer that you talk to on the phone? The underwriter that you never see or ???
If anyone has worked directly with a mortgage loan officer from HSBC or Wells Fargo, please email me? helpplsnycATgmail.com
(Please replace the AT with @)
Thanks!

It is somewhat funny that YOU are looking for a "competant" officer rather than one that is "competent."

I used mortgage broker. And it was right after September 15 last year. If you have problems with working out mortgage yourself - broker could be a good way to go. Fee is not that high any way.
