Ellis Bar Brownstoner Meet Up
IT'S A PAR-TAY! Come on down to Ellis Bar and party with the posters and lurkers on Brownstoner.com!!!
It's a night to celebrate Leo and Virgo birthdays, drink adult beverages (yeah!), and, if you are brave enough, take part in Ellis' Thursday night karaoke.
We've got drink specials, goodie bags for all attendees and a special goodie bag for those who are Leos or Virgos. Does it get any better than this? HECK YEAH! There will be a special prize for the first Brownstoner who is brave enough to sing for us :-)
Don't be shy - come hang with us. We will be starting the festivities at 6pm. Have to work Thursday night? Tell that boss of yours that you've got somewhere more important to be! The economy stinks — what's a better way to let go of that stress than to quaff a brew with your fellow Brownstoners? THERE ISN'T A BETTER WAY!

I don't think the "first to sing" is much of a challenge - I always am the first. I have a few ones picked out already, I thought there would be more people wanting to get up there.

Is it just me or is everyone claiming suddenly to have a birthday now? would I be wrong in thinking some people are trying to weasel tiaras out of the Mistress of Tiaras? Hmmm...?
IJ- go for it. I don't sing but I am offering to bring one of my cats, who has an attention-getting soprano screech (think nails on chalkboard) and she will be happy to accompany you in your musical endeavors :-)

Sorry, Cged- are you Leo or Virgo? We can get you a lavaliere but they are not free. There is an extra charge for expensive jewelry and of course depending on the stones....grumble.....grumble... damn new PLUSAS

Goldman Sachs $100 Million Trading Days Reach Record
Aug. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Goldman Sachs Group Inc. made more than $100 million in trading revenue on a record 46 separate days during the second quarter, or 71 percent of the time, breaking the previous high of 34 days in the prior three months.
Trading losses occurred on two days during April, May and June, down from eight in the first quarter, the New York-based bank said today in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company made at least $50 million on 58 of the 65 trading days in the period, or 89 percent of the time.
I have no idea what this means but it sounds like some asshats are actually making money out there.
