Yellow Water

So yesterday I noticed that the water coming from our taps, toilet, etc. had a yellow tint. This is true for both hot and cold even after running it for several minutes. This has happened before and usually resolves itself within a few hours. Everything is back to normal, but I was wondering if this is as common for other people and if their is a known cause or danger.

anyone doing construction in the area?

As a matter of fact they are building a large building nearby. How would that be related?

Water often turns turbid when construction is going on - scaling is jarred off the pipes. It's one reason I put in a whole-house filter so my heater, ice-maker, etc. wouldn't get furred up.

To Arkady's point, you'll want to drain down your hot water tank to flush out the dirt etc. Maybe more than once.
