Woodburning Stove Installation
Does any have a recommendation of a person to make necessary changes to fireplace flue to vent a woodburning stove through the existing chimney? The flue would have to be accessed ablove the mantel and the damper removed and stove pipe installed. I know that the flue is good. I know its hot outside, but winter is comming and I assume fireplace work gets busy in the fall.

Try Jason at Big Apple Chimney or Andre at A&A. Both have been recommended previously, both have ads on this page at right (and Andre's been shilling for himself in some recent posts). Both are well qualified, with Big Apple having a more modern technology approach. Fireplaces aside, I wouldn't assume that a freestanding woodburning stove is legal under NYC Building Code.

There was a six family that was converted to condos last year that included freestanding wood burning stoves. All units sold quickly. Think it is legal. If the flu to be used is a straight run, could be a pretty simple job. DIY.
