Where can I get vinyl roller shades at a good price? Is there anything special I should look for?
What should the thickness be?

I don't know if this helps, but I was at Home Depot yesterday looking for a roller shade that's 15 inches wide. No luck. But, they did have a nice selection of roller shades including cloth ones at very reasonable prices. This was the Home Depot in Mill Basin, but there are larger ones at Gateway, and Cropsey Avenue (off of the Belt.)Good Luck.

I had a great experience with blinds.com. I had ordered custom-sized solar shades from them. They give you instructions on how to measure your windows. The prices were about 1/3 of what I was quoted by the local stores. Even considering that I paid a handyman to install them, still came down to about 50% off.

Target online has various kinds of shades and and they are cheap. I don't have a lot of experience though with their products. I ordered a few blinds and haven't put them up yet.
